Default Another Triton problem???

I have a cordless drill battery-18V which uses NiCd batteries.
I tried to charge it at 3Amps and it would only go up to 1.6A charging current.WHY??
It did this on my NiMh 7.2v 3000mah battery as well.
I wanted to charge at 1.5A and it went OK for the first 10mins and then it dropped to 1Amp and wouldn't accept any manual changes to increase it.
Even if i cancel it and restart it.(*&^^&%&*^%^&%

I also have a lead acid battery 12V 7Ah.
I set-up charging at 1.4Amps and it started at 0.1amps...after 30mins or so it went to 1.4Amps.#$%#$^%^%

I also want to ask if i can run two 7.2v 3000mah NiMh batteries in parallel safely!?!?!?

The max power on the Triton and Triton2 is 90 watts so with 18 volt battery it should be able to do about 3.75 amps.

Even the Triton JR has 63 watts and should d 2.5 amps. They should both be able to reach max current with a 7.2 volt Nickle battery.

Strange behavior, are you chargeing from a memory setting or the main menu? Pushing the current during charge does the figure flash and display the set-point ? original set-point or the new set-point ? Yet it doesn't reach the set-point either way?

The PB charge souinds normal though as it does ramp up slow and ramp down very slow as the battery aproaches full.

You can run 2 7.2 batts in parallel ok, just have to split them to charge.

Check your manual.
I had a similar problem and there was a setting in there that was the max for NiMH cells.
This was set at 1000 mah and I was trying to do 2000.
I thought I had a bad pack until I found this limiting factor.
Good Luck,

For your power tools, Try charging at 700 MA. I tried the high charge rate and it did what you're saying. I use the Triton on all my power tools. Makita drill,Skill power screwdriver, Sanyo vacuum, etc. Lead acid batt. may be to high of a rate too. My 20 AH field charging batt. I charge at only 1.3 amps otherwise it cuts out to soon.

AND a battery problem!!!
My two 7.2v batteries have around the same voltage but when connected on a motor the one gives out more power and more RPM.
Why is this?
When charged slowly for 16hrs at 300mah the one with the low power gives out a bit more voltage but again no power at all...!!?!?!?

One of your packs is better than the other. This can be because of a bad cell in the weak battery or simply one battery is getting old and loosing capacity. Try cycling the weaker pack discharge (C/5) and charge it at C/10 for 16h.
