I am building a flight box similar to those on the Ultimate flight box thread. I need both 12 and 24 volt connections. 12 going to a standard control panel and 24 going to a Dynatron starter. I was wondering if what I am thinking will work. See attachment. Two batteries daisy chained together for the 24 volt connection and then tie the control pannel off of one of the batteries. Seems like it should work. Any help would be greatly apprciated.

that will work fine but you might want to
wire up swtich so that you can select
12v or 24v. The switch comes into play
because you can wire it such that you
get 12v @ 2x battery rating (like 2x 7AH -=14AH) OR 24v @ 1x battery rating.

Can you draw a diagram of what you are saying? Not sure I fully understand what you are describing.

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but when you hit the switch on the starter and close the circuit, won't both batteries then be connected in series and temporarily send 24v to the power panel? Just wondering...

Wire the battery on the right hand side of your drawing
over to the one on the left, POS to POS and NEG to NEG.
Use a double pole double throw center off switch.

actually, what we did was go in and
cut the traces on the circuit board
so that the 12v starter output jack
was floating and wired directly to the
12/24 switch. The rest of the power
panel was wired to a single 12v pack.

Careful, it will work but the two batteries will be in different charge states and connecting two batteries like that in serial is not the best idea. It is best to keep serially connected batteries in a matched charge state.
