Hello ,
I have a Magnum XL .40 and a 10 1/2 Oz fuel tank. The problem is i only get 7 -8 min of flight time. Then I dead stik , the engine just quits. When i empty the fuel tank there is still 1/3 of it left.
What has happened to my tank. It was fine for the 1st 15 flights
Thankx

I don't think it is your tank. I think you are leaning out during your flight. You need to richen your engine some because it is normal to lean out a little as the flight goes on. If you know how to do this then you are ok. Otherwise can you get help at the field?

The instructors adjust the needle valve on your 1st flight. They told me to take out the tank and check for any leaks which I did. While i was in there i replaced all the tubing. They also sujested that i make sure the clunk was long enough to just reach the bottom.
Is there anything else i can do before i go back to fly
Thankx

Sounds like you did all the right things. Just to make sure. The clunk should not reach the back of your tank. It could get stuck to the back of the tank if it is too long.
Does your tank have foam around it? It could be foaming due to vibrations and then getting air bubbles in the line.
Good Luck. Sounds like you are good to go.

I had similar problems with my tank for a while. I finally asked a buddy at the field for help troubleshooting it. He took the tank out and was looking through it toward the sun to see if there was any crud in it and he noticed that the vent line had worked it's way up against the side of the tank. We bent the vent line back a little and I haven't had a problem since. I'm glad he was helping me because I would have never found that myself. Might be something to look for.
