Sorry to hear....man I did much of the same but have seen your posts before and know you are a builder...catch your breath and dig in again...
MinnFlyer....how about a UltraSport with foam wing and glass>??....saw the Lite post but would love to see a HEAVY build....glass and paint..any ideas?...just a newbie looking for ideas...

]. Sorry to hear. That plane looked awesome. I do not build, i buy ARFs but I still feel your pain.
There is this fellow at one of the clubs I go, he is being building a plane for 10 years. Would you imagine if he looses that plane?
But the only people that dont crash are the ones that dont fly.

I really need to hone my building skills and step up to a real kit like the ones at Blue Jay. All beautiful planes....alas I'm still at a re-building skill level. I can repair most breaks weather it was a kit or an ARF...maybe this is my winter?

anyone want to buy an engine. It is a K&B .61 glowplug engine with a muffler. It is 70s or 80s and it has a box and ALL of the original papers even the buisiness reply mail note. It has never been run ever. I want $400 obo.

Dragon its funny you shpuld say that about landing if more than 2 planes in the air. At our field I,ve seen as many as 8 planes in the air and never had a problem , but every mid air collision we,ve had their were only 2 planes in the air.

If you can figure out a repair, building won't be much of a problem for you. I'd rather build than repair any day. The old school kits were sometimes some blocks of balsa that you carved away what didn't look like the plane you wanted. Iwas looking at a PDF of the Dirty Bird last nite. lots of carving and howling out to do. Gota build one though, There was a picture of one on a Model Avaition Mag about five years back. Fell in love with it.

Don, I haven't had time to really look things over yet. Long story but I had no sleep the night before so when I got home I never even removed any of my gear out of the van. Pulled into the garage and came in for a much needed nap. I was still out there flying at 3;00, first good day we had in a while. I flew Harley the rest of the day. I pulled out everything today just so during my road trip around town today I could get the van washed. I'm heading over the boarder for a Bday party tomorrow morning and won't get to looking at anything until early next week. I even have a four stroke repair for one of the guys I fly with, hard to find time for my own stuff but I will get to it. I'll let you know. There is dirt all over the engine and the carb was knocked off so I don't even want to roll the engine over yet before I clean it. There was a pretty deep hole in the Lake Bed where the engine hit, no sign of the spinner at all. The RX looks like something I better send into Radio South, it was one of my high end PCMs so worth having it looked at.
I have high hopes of saving everything but you know how it may go?? The hit was ugly but I expected things to look a lot worse.
JP, the older kits are a bit harder to build then the newer ones, I never recommend one of the Blue Jay kits to anyone that hasn't built a number of the more modern kits. There can often be things left out of the instructions or up to the builder to know. Some are easier then others but the modern ones go together a bunch easier. Building a Great Planes or SIG kit is something I derive a lot more joy from, just a lot less thinking or stress, I hate having to do too much thinking, it really hurts if I do it too much.
Take a look at the SIGs, if they have any in stock give one a try. One of my favorites to build and fly is the Kavalier. I think the hardest part of the build is putting on the canopy, that required a lot of that thinking stuff!!!

I'm going to take a look at a set of Blue Jay's plans to see what I'm up against. I guess it's another example of the plane you like most, causing you the most heartache. I'll be sure to post what my choice is, and see if the heads are shaking north and south in approval before I find my self with 1/2 a box of scrap wood.

ahhh midairs,lost this beauty to a midair,there was nothing left but the transmitter I held in my hand,40 years later still having fun,but the memories,what a spectacular midair,just confetti raining down.This was a Ralph White kit he produced when he lived in Seattle,,Gladiator design by Doc Brookes.

Striking colour scheme on that model (if you'll pardon the pun).
I bet you build another, just like it. I have a Birdie .40 and it's easily my favourite model ... though I had to fit some flaps, else I'd never get it down accurately on our small-ish runway.

I have had 3 mid airs where I lost my airplanes, 1 was a brand new CAP-21 on it's maiden!!!! It happens to me more than anyone I ever met and it is just by chance really. People ask, who's fault was it? are you angry at the guy? The answer is nobodies fault really and I am frustrated but I cant get angry about it... the only way to 100% avoid it is not to fly I guess. Gene I know you worked your butt off and put alot of blood and sweat into that airplane. You will just have to build another! It keeps you out of trouble right? It was a damned fine airplane and nothing flies like a Kaos!!!! I am glad RCU is back online... I wonder WTH it was this time? did you keep the little bird picture on the rudder?
