Servo's
#3
Sorry Ken... not so......
These ARE great servos for the price.
I'm using them ( the digital versions ) on my Giant Scales 50cc'ers UP and you'll find many others who are too.
Centering, speed, holding power is all very good. I've tested them to their rated specs.
They have good U.S. reviews as well

They are so good that many big name U.S. distributors have picked them up. You'll also find them for sale all over the U.S. ( Google search )
Places like Troy Built and others sell and warrant them, which is in itself a testimony to their use and reliability.
These local companies would have a hard time dealing with returns, crashes and consumer complaints otherwise.
I have seen a couple of posts from Heli Guys complaining about the digital versions being loud, but that's about it.
Some of the RCUniverse "old timers" are all too quick to dismiss low prices, should first TRY the things in question before dismissing them.
DaRock and I got into it when he did likewise. ( Though I tend to agree with most of his posts... )...
Conversely things that are cheap CAN be JUNK too, so you have to be careful both ways.
I've had the most servo failures with Hitecs than any other brand ( including the cheapies ).... but I'm not saying that Hitecs are bad...
As the definitions say:
Fallacies are arguments that may sound logical, but are not.
Appeal to riches (argumentum ad crumenam): The fallacy of believing that money is a criterion of correctness; that those with more money are more likely to be right, or that something that costs more is intrinsically better.
"Microsoft software is undoubtedly superior; why else would Bill Gates have gotten so rich?"
“It costs twice as much it must be twice as good!â€
"You get what you pay for!"

Iasked this question earlier in the year and had to call no joy as they were too new and nobody had any practical experience with them. In the meantime, I stayed with what I knew worked and waited until people started experiementing. My dad decided he wanted to try them and bought a couple for a 71" 260 he has. He hasnt had any problems with them and is very happy with how they are performing. Would I use these on my big P-47 that has a ton of money into it? No, but these are something I would consider if I were building something like an ESMwarbird or a .60-size fun flier warbird.

WOW! I did not expect such a fast response to my question but thanks to all.
I am going to purchase a couple and try them. I find this servo priced from
$13.98 to $18.95

opjose, what you have said above are good comments. I like the first one as it qualifies the servo. There are many things in my humble opinion that ARE great...............for the price. It's relative.
As for the distributors that have picked them up, again you are correct but there is at least one very reputable dealer that has dropped the Power HD line due to failure rates. So again, it's relative.
Like I said, I've not used the 1501 but have used the 9501 and I had one of them on an elevator half fail on it's 3rd flight. Now don't put words in my mouth........name brands servos could do the same yes. I just don't care to trust my 50cc plane to the "cheap" servo any longer. Took all of them out of the airframe as soon as I managed to get it on the ground. If anyone wants them, let me know.
Conversely, I do know a number of people that swear by them. Then again it's like that no matter what equipment you're talking about.
So my take is that if a person chooses to risk it, and they have good results, then they should be most grateful.
Like I said, my humble opinion.

But as I discovered with the Hitec's, paying more for a "non-cheap" servo produced ( at least in my case ) MORE failures than the less expensive ones.
So either way there is an element of risk... and it's all to easy to equate a failure with the amount of money paid.... and that's the problem.... there is no correlation as many are wont to establish.
You need to exercise care either way, and you DO NOT have to necessarily pay more to assure decent performance... but of course you don't want faulty stuff either.
I've had fewer failures with $9.00 ( 2 out of 120 servos ) standard sized 133oz/in servos than I've had with a smaller sampling ( 4 bad out of 24, 2 bad out of the box! ) of similar torque $50.00/ea servos.
I have pretty good samplings of all types to work from.... so I'm not talking from hearsay
That said your bad experience goes into my "minus" column for the HD's, and if I recommend them, I'll also note the problems you had to try to give an honest view.
