Default how do i identify my engine's make?

hello everyone. i got a new engine for christmas, and i would like to identify a make. there are no names on the engine or box. on the engine it says made in china on one side and a circle with 40 in it on the other. the box is a plane white box with a silver sticker that has S40, then the letter A with the roman numeral 2 next to it. any ideas?

Hi shd3920.

I went through the website www.hobbypartz.com they have some great stuff, and mostly free shipping. I'd like to say Thank you for posting this website, never knew that before. I'm fixing to order my ASP .52 2 Stroke engine soon.

That's really weird. No name, no blame, I suppose.

Download a manual for a Magnum two stroke from hobbypeople.net. It may not be identical but ASP and Magnum are both made by Sanye.
You'll be safe using an OS #8 or similar plug to start. Then, just like props and fuel, experiment until you find the combination that works best for you.
