Default Snowing in Vegas

OK, our really strange heat wave is over here in Sin City, it was good while it lasted!! It's snowing in Vegas. Not really sticking on the roads and it's due to change to rain soon but it is finally winter here too!!

Hey Gene, Hope you like it. I put the order in for Christmas, but you know how it is, good workers are hard to find.[8D][8D][8D]

Well, before it rained here on Thursday (not a normal thing) we had about two feet of snow sitting on the ground. I'll bet we lost 6 inches to the rain, but there's still plenty hanging around. Thankfully we've gotten out of the pattern of 6" of snow every week or two now. Hopefully we can have milder weather for a while now. If not, we're going to have to figure out how to truck the snow somewhere else (like maybe to Vegas!) [sm=lol.gif]

Thank you Gene, my wife and I really do like to see it once in a while. This is her weekend so she doesn't have to drive in it. We keep going out back for our coffee and smoke, just sitting out there watching the flakes come down. It should start raining in a couple hours. I just didn't want you to think we always had high 50s this time of year.

I was out at Nellis last year around July/Aug for about 6 weeks working. One day it started to rain. Everyone in the building crowded in the lobby to look outside as if they had never seen water fall from the sky. Apparently only a few had ever been to Florida. The next day, the desert was beautiful. I’ll bet the mountains are pretty right now. Let us know when you start ice skating on lake Meade.

At least it won't stick around, we won't see dirt till last of April, maybe May.

Last winter and this winter we have had a lot of rain. {for us anyway} The dry lake bed I fly at is under water again but should be dry pretty fast again. Our normal rain priors is late August through early November and called the Monsoon Season. Tail end of monsoons flowing out of Mexico. Last two years we didn't get any monsoons so it was a big deal for people. Often when it rains here it is at 3AM and not many people get to see it rain. Have to go see LeReve to see water splashing!!

We won't see dry land until July (Red River Basin). We had a summer of above normal rain last year. The fields were still saturated in the fall. Now with a lot of snow, we're expecting the "Flood of the Century" again this spring. The Big Sky Flyers Model Field and WRCC fields will be under water in April and May for sure. It's going to be a long building season.

July, August, September ... Winter again.

Just think how nice it would be if the water on the dry lake bed would take out all of the ruts left by the quads, RV's, dirt bikes and so forth.

It kinda does and we drag the area where we fly but you have to time it just right. Sad thing is some yuk always comes along before it is dry enough to drag and likes to use our area for a bur out spot. Just got the report for tomorrow, out area is still under water, the South end is dry but trucks have driven over the area. Everyone has been flying at the Lake Mead flying site. I like it out there but some of the guys have problems with it being asphalt and having to land in the correct area. We get spoiled with 7 sq. miles of flat!!

I flew a few times at the lake bed for the QSAA gathering a few years ago. But mostly I flew at the North Las Vegas field. Enjoy the sunshine.
