I think you are making a good decision getting another trainer. I built a pt40 for my first plane and I have to say that it was a lot more fun to build than it ever was to fly. I mean it flew, but it just fought with me all the time. I was reLieved when I cracked it up a little bit because I used that as an excuse to get a proper trainer, a Tower Trainer 40. This flew SO much better.

The pt40 is a great primer for kit building however, but not the best flying trainer out there.

One day, just for the fun of it, I will make this plane fly right. At this time, I am fed up with it. I have tried everything that was suggested. I am buying another plane so I can learn to fly without struggling. Once I am polished, I will make this plane fly. I spent more than 60 hours building it, so I am not thowing it out in the garbage. But today I removed the engine and radio to use for the Avistar I am ordering. The PT40 is on detention. Thanks again all of you.
Good choice. An excellent flying plane.

BTW I have never crashed any of my planes from mixing rudder and aileron.
But then I never had flat bottom wing with the problems you are talking about.
At least nothing that more throw didn't fix.

PS If your Avistar comes with more than one dihedral choice go with the one that is less.

I would recommend staying away from any sort of mixing, at least until the OP has enough training and ability to deal with it. Just the setup is not something for a beginner.

Are the control rods going into the backside of the ailerons "wallered out"? I have had planes in the past that have these kind of control rods on ailerons and they tend to get sloppy over time from the control rod working back and forth inside the balsa. When they do this I usually seep some glue into the aileron control rod hole to stiffen it up. Just a thought.

Early in in this Mixing discussion I had origionally asked about mix for a delta that only has the 2 elerons.  My Fly Sky  FS-CT6 TX sets the MIX through it's computer settings only and does not have a MIX switch.  I don't have instructions and it's not clear what to do.

Should I set the elevation as primary and let it control the rudder, that being secondary.  (Up and down stick movement feeds to right and left )? and either way what percentage differential.

How is this set to get just elevons to operate together up and down ?

Sorry a honeydoo will take me from this great forum for 5 - 5 hours now.

AltaTed, when you have a question that is not related to the original reason for the thread starting, it's much better to start a new thread so it's not so confusing to read.

To answer you question, elevon mixing makes the two surfaces act as both elevators and ailerons. If you move your right stick up or down, they both move up or down together. If you move it right and left, they will move opposite to each other. If you do both movements of the stick, you get both movements of the surfaces. Rudder has nothing at all to do with elevons. Your owner's manual should tell you how to set up elevon mixing, and it is simple enough to see if it's right.
