Hi everyone, I have an old GB Tiger 60 that I pulled back off the shelf after a year and a half of just sitting. I pulled the battery and put a charged one in it and turn in on with my transmitter and the servos sit there jittering. I put my transmitter right beside the plane, the receiver antenna was straight laying outside of the plane. I had pulled the receiver to use it on another plane. I'm useing Futaba S3004's in the plane. I've never had any problems that I can recall with these servos. Any ideas what might be causing this?

What rx is it. Sometimes when the tx is to close to the rx you may get the problem that you are referring to. Try taking the tx away from the plane.

I agree with GoIrish. When the transmitter is to close to the receiver it swamps it out and it will behave just have you have described. Move the transmitter away from the plane and see if the jittering doesn't stop. Do a range check and see if the behavior stops.</p>

I have used many brands of transmitters and receivers over the last 30 years and, with the exception of the old AM radios on 27MHz, have never had a transmitter being close to the receiver cause glitching. A much more possible reason for the glitching is a poor connection. If the connectors (especially any extensions) have not been exercised (repeatedly connected/disconnected) recently there may be a high impedance connection due to corrosion of the contacts. Just exercise them a few times and see if the problem goes away.

I did a range check also and still the same. I have a Hitec supreme receiver in it.. I'm going to try a different receiver to see if maybe its in the receiver.

SOP would be check for, binding, adequate voltage, correct frequency, possible damage to a servo or its gears also some of the Hitec RXs a have an optional SHIFT setting for different types of transmitters. So do you have it set up for yours?

The transmitter is a Futaba EXP.. Its never had a problem before with any of these receivers or servos. I use Hitec and Futaba receivers and never had any jitters like this.. all the connections look good. going to start moving some things around and see if anything changes..

If the battery was discharged for long time, it may be not working properly under load, or it may have developed black wire syndrome affecting the switch and/or contacts.
You could also try a good battery and by-pass the switch and see what happens.

Over time the battery's negative lead, which runs through the switch harness to the receiver, will corrode. The copper wire loses its bright, "coppery" look and turns almost black. It also becomes brittle and inflexible.
The cause? Storing your system in a damp place with the battery installed. If you leave the wire connected to the battery, surrounded by environmental moisture, an electrical effect results that promotes corrosion of the wire. The corrosion starts at the battery pack and works its way toward the switch harness.
The air doesn't have to feel particularly humid to qualify as a damp environment. Storing your system in a shed or garage leaves it vulnerable to enough humidity (such as the moisture brought into the garage by your car) for corrosion to occur. It will happen even faster if the battery is not maintained and goes flat. Charge and cycle your battery regularly to prevent or slow down the corrosion."

As Lnew stated, it's more likely to be corroded leads. You should get a can of electrical terminal cleaner and make sure you clean everything, switch and RX also. Spray first then plug the leads in and out about 10 times to remove the crud. Some servos also jitter when they have a freshly charged battery installed but the 3004s don't usually react to the battery over charge or fresh charge.

Umm Flourescent lightting? Rod Serling may be able to help you on that.. 
I've had servo jitter when I had fully charged batteries. It seems to go away shortly after I power things up and go through my ground preparation prior to flight. It all seems normal after the ground setup is complete and I'm ready to fly.

What Dick just mentioned is the over charge of a fresh battery. Some servos are bad about it and some it never seems to bother at all. I have several JR high end analogs that do that with every full charge. Used to worry me but after the first flight of the day they are fine.

Other causes may be just having an old battery not hitting the correct voltage.
I would look at my on/off switch which I insist on replacing every 3-5 years. That's my sop. Don't let a $8 switch kill your airplane.
Also I had a bad servo extension short out and it would do that. Lost the plane to figure that one out. I also replace those when they appear worn.

Ok after messing with it for while yesterday I ended up changing receivers and it now works. I tried different batteries, I tried different servos in the same receiver. I had pulled the switch before I set the plane on the shelf so that shouldn't be the problem. I even checked all me other planes I have in that transmitter just to make sure it wasn't that. I'm guessing it was the receiver..
