if you know of a place to get methanol it is relitivly cheap (3 dollars a gallon)
then buy the castor oil from sigmfg.com for about 22 bucks a gallon and mix your own fuel for about 6-7 bucks a gallon
works just as well as any other in my opinion

Idea is not bad, I have no idea where to buy methanol, in fact I'd have to look up on the internet or search through google, where in Houston area I can find methanol, and castor oil, but as my motors are used to Nitro, probably they'd need more tweaking but ultimately get used to it.

I'd certainly give it a try, and mixing them 80% and 20% would be a real tough mess

Thanks

Mody

I'm not sure if you were serious there but that's about the simplest possible mixture to make. It's just 4 parts of methanol and 1 part of oil. Take a container (any size will do) and fill it with oil. Pour the oil into a larger container. Fill the first container with methanol and pour into the oil. Do that 4 times then give the big container a good shake and go fly .

Engines don't get used to nitro but the operator (you ) have to get used to the fact that the less nitro there is in the fuel the more careful you have to be with tuning. Nitro gives a bigger margin of error when tuning but at the expense of higher fuel consumption. This difference in fuel consumption is one of the reasons why an engine must be retuned anytime you change fuel blends.
