RE: Your favorite every day standard servo?
Thanks for the input! The HS-425 are looking pretty nice (be easy to swap since servo arms/linkages are set up for hitec stuff.), I'll see what the LHS has in stock this weekend.

HI
USE moslly FUTABA SERVOS-148's came with the conquest line of radios stockthe older 128's are just a bit more torque never had a servo fail in 20 yearsuse the same stuff over and over mostly for my 40 and 60 size planesthey have been bullet proof
had hitec HS 605 servos fail while they sat in my plane idle on the wall ( one of there early RX's also failed on the wall ! )the sevos would just start to move so slow you knew you had a problemnever had any other servo fail on me in the same 20 year****EC was a big disappointment for me with that model servo that they stopped making
BEST REGARDS TONY

Yup. That amounts to the total of all the data in this thread and all the other threads that have been posted on this very same subject. What works... works. No doubt about it.
We all have our favorites and what we feel works best for us. No one can dispute that. Many will challenge it, but no one can dispute it. Since I've tried several different manufacturers servos, I can say that I've not had one that worked worse or better than others.
Don't compare a basic servo with an extreme ball-bearing digital high-torque servo, as I've seen from time to time because there is no comparison. So, if you want a basic servo recommendation, well, look over this thread (and many others) and choose one.
I MUST ask, though, if you choose one, and crash a plane with it installed, then use it again, well, all bets are off. Without really knowing if the servo was damaged in a crash, there is no comparison between that servo and a brand new one right out of the box. I've scrap-box crashed only a couple of planes and those servos were not used again, as was the receiver. For the cost, I just threw them away rather than chance using a servo that was damaged from the crash. And, I still have about 10, undamaged but used, in the drawer that are waiting for a new plane.

I use Futaba 148, 3004, and 3010 servos. I have about 30 148s that are 20+ years old and have never had one fail. Now they go on the throttle of every plane I have plus I have 148s on all controls on a 40 size high wing sport plane. I also have never had the 3004s and 3010s fail. Currently I like the 3010s the best for 60 through 90 size planes.

My go to servo for the last 10 years has been the Airtronics 94102. I have more of these servos than I can count (60+) and I've never had one fail that wasn't crash related (it died after the crash) for anything up to about 90-120 size these are great little servos and do an outstanding job.
