hey there guys. well i just got my first plane, the ember 2 and i had my first 3 flights today! the first flight was full of nose dives and crashes. the second flight, there were more crashes and nose dives, but i managed to keep it in the air for 2 minutes continuous before crashing! and the final flight, i kept it in the air for a third of the battery life and then crashed. im amazed at how well i am doing from just flying in my backyard!!! this is one fun little plane and i hope to get more flights in tomorrow.....and get some more props and prop shafts from hobbytown

it depends on how hard you crash. if you are over top of grass, damage is very unlikely. but they can still break in a crash. i have luckily not broken anything yet, only bent a prop shaft after nose diving into the patio. but i have heard that if you break a foam piece, you can use packing tape or glue to fix that. so i would really recommend flying over top of grass.
also, you should seriously get a plane. they are fun!!!

The Ember 2 is a fantastic little plane - probably the best value for an RTF micro there is. I've had mine for about a year now. I've had 20 min thermal flights with 1 to 1-1/2 min power on to catch the thermal and rest gliding. I limit it to 20 min due to the small battery, and have had it as high enough it looked like it had a 1" wing span.
Indoors is where it shines. Less than 1/2 throttle with the controls set at 50% is the most relaxing powered plane I've flown. Easy touch-n-go's and in a larger venue you can fly it using only a click or rudder trim gentle figure 8's and ovals all about 10' off the ground. Remove the landing gear and move the battery as far aft as possible and it flies even better.
And it's a blast to shoot touch-n-go's off a small table. The list of fun things to do with it is almost endless. The only thing it doesn't care for is wind thanks to it's 1 ounce weight.
I highly recommend getting one - you won't be sorry.

Hey Electric, Glad you're having a great time. I'v had one for 2 years and fly it in doors or in my back yard. Here's a tip to reduce breakage; Untape the wings. Next, and a little tension to the wing holders with a thin "cut" rubber band. I used some very fine copper wire to tie the ends of the rubber band and added a drop of CA. Now when you crash; the wings will come off without breaking!

You were about to get a new motor...<div>You were right about the price of brushless though.</div><div>Why dont you get a 2 batterys and a charger.

thats not a bad deal. but, the seller i got my ember 2 from, is sending me a radio and a second battery for free because i thought he sent me the BNF (said so on the box) version, so i emailed him and the day after he shipped it out i found out the transmitter was in the box. so im going to have 2 batteries and radios. im thinking about getting a 150mah from hobbytown or hobby depot if they have them.

yeah i guess so. idk i will think about that. besides, i would need to give the motor a cool down period in between flights. oh and, i got my elevator fixed! i just had to recenter it.

You dont need to wait for cool down.... The motor has a certain rate in which it gains heat, and a certain rate in which the heat dissapates from the motor can. With the wind blowing right on the motor (because its a plane) the heat wont build up but it will stay constant.<div>You can always do the five second rule....</div>

yeah i noticed that right after i flew today. i checked the temp of the motor, it was barely warm. guess the propeller and airflow cools it down quite well.

yeah. i guess since the ember 2's "guts" are basically open, it gets good airflow. i know other planes have them sealed inside a full fuselage.
