Just bought a new hawk sky. So farI upgraded the battery and battery charger, so I know its not a battery issue. This is what happens every time I fly the plane.</p>
1. It takes some skill and time to get the motor to work right. Its sputter at first. I have full control over the rest of the plane
2. I hand throw the plane at full throttle.
3. The plane will fly as far as you can throw it and then nose dive. So far I have broken the tail once, nose twice, left wing and use a lot of duck tape.
4. I put the plane on a semi smooth surface and she barely moved.
I have a meter to tell me if I have a full charge. I have seen a ton of you tube on flying this plane and the <span word="moter" splc="splc" state="edited">motor</span> is way more louder than mine. I have look at other problems like proper binding, backward prop, reverse motor and so on. simply put it does not have enough power to fly. I am missing something and hoping somebody can point me in the right direction, Thanks.</p>

What Motor/ESC/Battery are you using? Include the specs for this equipment and if possible links to where you got them. Has it ever operated properly? i.e. before you made a change?

What do you mean by "sputter"? With small throttle input, it should just begin to spin slowly.
As asked, have you flown it before? Did it ever overheat?
Checking the battery on a voltmeter, if that's what you did, doesn't really mean much. What kind of charger do you have?
Do you know that it is getting a full charge from your charger? It's normally hard to tell unless you have some sort of display that shows what amount of current went into it during the charge cycle, which with some chargers, it shows the peak voltage that it detects on before declaring it fully charged. Of course, I am assumming that it is a LiPo battery pack. Is it a LiPo pack? How many cells? What capacity?
All this will help us try to solve the problem with your plane.

In addition:
- The ESC may have not "learned" the full range of the transmitters throttle. You may have to "teach" it the full range again.
- Check to see that the motor and prop turn freely, the motor should not heat up when you run it full throttle for a few minutes.
- Please provide the URL for the replacement battery pack you purchased.
- Most ohm meters are useless to tell you the state of the battery pack.
- The 400 brushless motor and ESC provided is normally a very good match to the plane, so something is amiss.

The motor never heats up because the plane never spends any time in the sky. The prop moves freely when turned, now the prop is glued to the motor, so the propand the motor are thesame. When theprop is turning I can feel the air pushing against my hand, so I believe the motor/prop is tuning in the right way. I am using a 11.1 2100 <span class="squiggly" title="To see spelling suggestions, click this word" state="new" splc="splc" word="li">li</span>-power battery, the charge rate is <span class="squiggly" title="To see spelling suggestions, click this word" state="new" splc="splc" word="1c">1c</span> (<span class="squiggly" title="To see spelling suggestions, click this word" state="new" splc="splc" word="2.1a">2.1a</span>) The plane <span class="squiggly" title="To see spelling suggestions, click this word" state="new" splc="splc" word="e">e</span> was fine until Iupgraded the battery, but the problem with the sputtering of the motor has been with me since day one. I still don't know if this is a two problem or just one.

Are you saying that the plane lacks power or that the elevator does not work?
Could you please post the URL to the battery pack you "upgraded" to, and what charger you are using on it?
Even if you purchased a suitable battery there is a chance that the charger provided with the plane will not work with an aftermarket battery pack.
The balance charge ports on the chargers are not all compatible with each other, so you may not be seeing a charge on the battery.
Please answer the above questions so we can help.
Also the question was not about the plane being in the air or not, rather how the temperature rises during static tests.

Just last night I had a freind/club member who is still new to R/C planes bring over his Nitro Planes Foremost to ask for help and ideas as to how he could mount the engine. When I noticed the mounting was not even included in the kit, the mount was to be screwed into some balsa rails (should be plywood), a former was poorly repaired/patched and some formers were not even glued to the fiberglass fusalage... I said the best help I could give him was to recomend he return it.

The small electric pusher or the 1.20-1.40?

Ok, though this has nothing to do with this thread... Which Formost?

When I noticed the mounting was not even included in the kit, the mount was to be screwed into some balsa rails (should be plywood), a former was poorly repaired/patched and some formers were not even glued to the fiberglass fusalage... I said the best help I could give him was to recomend he return it.
The small electric pusher or the 1.20-1.40?

I believe that one was originally designed for an EDF or smaller turbine, hence the intake openings ( though intake tubes are NOT supplied... ugh ).
The two side mounts are normally hardwood not balsa, on the interior though and they are glued onto the ply formers.
It is possible to mount a glow engine in that plane, but most of the mounting is "user supplied".
I can see how someone would have problems.
Similiarly the wood used on the Flymodels Bobcat glow mounting blocks provided are also too soft.
Strangely on the Bobcat the same is not true of the area the blocks mount onto, which is very strong.
With the Formost and the Bobcats, Flymodels did not do this very well.
Both planes do fly well, but they need an above average amount of work to get them airworthy.
