Default 1st. build electric

Just ordered the Alpha 450 Sport ARFElectric. Here is what I have for the plane:
3s 11.1V 2200 Mah 20 amp battery
Spektrum 6100 DSM2 RX
Spektrum DX8 TX

Asking what I need in the way of a motor, prop, ESCand 4 servos. (I guess I need 4)
Anything else I may need? Thanks for your input

Default RE: 1st. build electric

I just built my first electric plane; haven't flown it yet because of windy weather. It has a BI 2212/13 outrunner motor turning a APC 10x4.7 propeller. ESC is a 30 amp BP Hobbies. The battery is the same size as yours. When I connected the ESC to the battery to run the motor for the first time, smoke poured out of the ESC. I took it back to my local hobby shop and they replaced the ESC at no cost. (We cut open the bad ESC and found that one of the capacitors had fried.) I also purchased a Turnigy Accucell 6 battery charger. Also, I bought a micro torch and some solder because the ESC did not come with the connectors. For servos, I bought three Hitec 55s servos - they're small and cheap.

I don't know what size plane an Alpha 450 is, so your motor and ESC might need to be bigger or smaller.

I would copy what Horizon says: E-flite Park 450 w/25a speed control, 4 S75 servos. Your battery is good. The website will tell you which prop is best with the 450 motor.

Look here

and read down a bit. There is a good guide to determining what you will need for your plane.
