On Off Switch connection

I am new to electric motors and such. The Thunder tiger Zero that I am assembling for a retired/disabled friend calls for an on/off switch. I was unable to obtain the exact Batt and ESC recommended by Thunder Tiger.
I was able to obtain an equivelant LI-Po batt by Flight power and an SS12 ESC from Electrifly.
According to the plane manual it shows the on/off switch having 2 wires from the ESC to the switch, 2 wires from the ESC to the reciever and 2 wires from the ESC to the BATT. The 2 wires from the ESC are a no brainer but there are 3 wires comming from the ESC that connect to the receiver, (Red Brown & Orange).
If I hook the ESC to the Trhottle on the Reciever the motor works fine. If I hook the switch between it won't work. The radio and receiver is a Spektrum DXi6 system bind and fly.
Do I or don't I need the on off switch and if yes, can anyone tell me where I screwed up on the wiring?

Most of the ESC have dropped the extra switch. I have (1) ESC with a switch. The rest are turned on by plugging the battery into the ESC. Then turned off by unplugging the battery.
Is your switch part of the ESC? If not, what switch do you have?
The three wire should be plugged into the receiver and left plugged in.

That explains a lot. Thanks. The switch is a simple on/off switch. 2 wires, 1 rd & 1 Blk going in one side of switch and the same going out. Like I said, I'm new to these electronic's and foam airplanes. My 1/2A p-51 has a switch that the batt pack plugs in to and then the switch plugs in to the reciever. If I had been able to get the Tiger Thunder ESC I probably wouldn't have had a problem. Thanks again.

Grey Beard, not sure what you were shown, but the switch on my older ESC is about 3/8 inch long by 3/16 wide. it is a very small switch. It will not let the ESC arm while the switch is in the off position. It is an older KMS brushless ESC. If i get a chance I will take a picture if you want.

Thanks but I have found that a switch won't work with this ESC. I can how ever use a Dean's fail safe plug which is what I'm going to do. Thanks again.
