I was surfing and I came across the Goldberg Eagle 2 ARF. Is it good? Does anyone know anything about it? Does anyone have an online copy of the manual? Does anyone have one?

Got one...covering was nice and taut right out of the box...one or two minor wrinkles. Flies well (remembering it's a trainer) on a 46LA. Sullivan fuel tank, du-bro wheels pretty good hardware package with it... I did get rid of the snap nuts and went with Z bends. Flew through a tree (or at least tried to...)...snapped wing in half... fuse lived to fly another day with a kit built wing.

yub,
Either of those engines should work very well. I haven't had one, but all you should need would be thin CA, 30 minute epoxy, a hobby knife, and some fairly standard tools. A rotary tool might be nice if you have one, but I wouldn't buy one just for this.
Of course you'll need the radio equipment and all the flight accessories like, fuel, starter, glow ignitor, pump....
Our Scale Fly-In is tomorrow in Westborough if you can make it out there. Should be quite a few nice planes, if the weather forecast doesn't scare too many away.

Found my assembly manual. According to the book what you'd need would be:
30 min epoxy
thin CA
med CA
#64 rubber bands
utility/modelling knife
drill with 1/16,1/8,3/32 bits
small standard, phillips screwdrivers
masking tape
needle nose pliers
36" ruler/tape measure
flexible straight edge
T-square
30/60/90 6"triangle
soft pencil
T-pins
adjustable wrench
wire cutters
small paint brush(acid brush)
medium grit sandpaper
waxed paper
While this list was taken out of the Eagle's manual, it should be pretty much the same for most ARF trainers...plus or minus one or two items
You'll probably also need a covering iron(to touch up the one or two wrinkles it will have or to patch holes after a day of flying!), assorted hex-wrenches... nice to have would also be a heat gun, Z-bend pliers
I'm sure there are a few things I've forgotten...
