I was in Toyworld the other day and saw a small plane called the Kitty Hawk. It was like one of those Aerobird models but was a lot smaller. It had two small electric motors on either side of the fuselage behind the wing. The radio was a two channel and to climb the motors increased their speed whilst to descend they simply decreased. To turn one motor would decrease whilst the other increased in speed.
I am wondering if anyone knows much about these planes. I was thinking of buying one for my three year old son so I can teach him to fly at the local park. They were only $119 Aust and whilst I know that they are probably not going to fly like an expensive electric model I just want to make sure that it will at least fly on calm days.
My other option is to build him a spad glider with an old 2 channel radio I have. But we dont have any slopes here where I live so I am not sure if it would fly just by throwing it.
Any suggestions,
Thanks,
Troy.

Ok well it seems as if no one has heard of the Kitty Hawk before.
But what about the Firebird Outlaw?
It looks very similar to the Kitty Hawk so Im guessing that they might be the same plane. can anyone tell me what these planes are like?

3 years old might be a little young. but you would probably have a blast. don't know much about the kittyhawks, but the Firebirds can be a handful, and don't handle well in wind.

From: Laurel, MD,
One of the guys at my local hobby shop had a 8yr old nephew (if I recall correctl) flying a firebird outlaw around after a brief intro. I think 3 is likely too young, but who knows. Anyway, the outlaw does fly, though as you might guess, it doesn't like wind.

For a 3 year old my recommendation would be a flight simulator. FMS is not the best but it's free! Just log onto the website and download it. There are instructions on how to make the connection cable or you can buy one on Ebay if you don't want to do that. Real Flight G2 is the best Sim I've seen but will cost a few bucks. I'd wait about 3 years to give him a real model.
