Default looking for a buddy box

Does anyone have a 4 or 6 channel tx that can be used as a buddy box for my dx-7. And, want to sell it cheap.

Gene, almost any old charger will work. I have an old one from Tower/Hobbico I use, it's in my van but I think it is a 7? I will look and let you know, I will just send it to you. I have my old Hitec 7 I can use instead. I think I have several others but they are JR?? My cord is for Futaba to Hitec/Futaba and I don't think will the JRs?

I use a DX4e with my DX7.  Works great!  Plus, its nice to have a use for it since I bought a discounted NIB mCPX at my LHS that was RTF.  Ended up with it cheaper than I could have bought a BNF version.  So, by having it as a buddy boxer, made my mCPX purchase an even better deal.

I think it has to be a JR or spektrum. I know that JR and spektrum are the same. I have a young man that I want to buddy box with and all my planes are spektrum. I really don't want to change one over to Futaba and that I can buddy box. I use to buddy box with my 7 channel futabas until I got the dx7. The futaba's are 72's. I have the trainer cord for JR and Spektrum

The Spektrum Dx4e that I have available is also a full range DSMX DSM2 Transmitter so in addition to using it as a buddy box it can be bound to a plane to allow your student to solo a 4 chanel plane while you still have the ability to fly with your Dx7.

Doesn't need to be a 2.4GHz Tx for the slave. A JR 2610 (6210 in some markets) can also be set up to slave with the Dx7.

Nice feature is all the slave trims get ignored.

I've done futaba on my DX7 many times. You have to use that H9 universal cable. You also need a battery in the buddy box.

It doesn't need to be 2.4 or JR/Spektrum or 7 ch. All signals come from your master TX. I checked, I have a 6 ch Tower for you if you want it. You just need a cord that goes from JR to Futaba. The box is never turned on and some people even remove the battery. Your call.
I found a frozen pipe on my drip system and have been running around town to get a replacement part, it's plastic!! As soon as I turned on the water main it blew off stripping the threads!![:@] Tomorrow will be a better day. Time for a beverage, perhaps something the Captain suggests!![&:]

Extract from Dx7 manual:

In the Slave mode, the DX7 is used as a slave radio in conjunction with a Spektrum® radio that is used as the
master that is in P-LINK mode; there is no need to match the slave’s programming to the master transmitter’s
programming in this mode.

If you use a Spectrum (or a JR with P-Link like the 2610) there is no need to touch the trims on the slave.

This is true if you are using a slave with digital trim since the power is off on the slave so the programming is irrelivent. However if trim and or servo reversing are analog switches on the slave I believe that the settings would have to be correct. The Spektrum DX5e and DX4e transmitters both have analog switches for servo reversing and their respective user manuals both say that when used as a slave the servo reversing must be set to match the master. In all cases it is advisable to do a complete ground check toggling between the master and the slave to make sure all throws are in the correct direction and there is not any significant surface movement when switching back and forth between the 2 transmitters.

I can verify this as fact as just this past Saturday I was training a new flyer, letting him use my DX4e as the slave. We had to match the servo reversal dip switches as well as trim it on the ground to match the DX6i that was the master. No big deal as I have always had to do this when I was being taught a few years ago using my old Futaba Conquest. Not until this thread that I knew that the trim and servo reversal would carry over...Digital to Digital.
