I have an OS 61FX. Would it be ok to remove the baffle thats in the muffler? Could I hurt the engine? Would I loose that backpressure that pressurizes the fuel tank?
Thanks.
Thanks.

It's a common modification. It makes the engine louder in exchange for a bit more power. There might be a reduction in tank pressure, but I've never heard of it being noticeable. The engine will experience less backpressure, but that's good, that's where the RPM increase comes from.

Just an update:
I removed the baffle from the muffler. I also reset the carb back to it's factory setting. I followed all of the advice I found in these forums on tuning my engine. I tell you this engine has come to life! It has so much more power now. I put my tach on the shaft and was reading 12000 RPM with a 12x8 prop. The engine is hotter, but not so hot you can't hold your finger on it for a few seconds.
Many thanks to everyone at RCU that has helped me get my plane flying.
