Default Early Christmas, YIP, YIP, YIPEEEEEEEEE!!

Hey all,
Thanks for all your help over the months(especially DBCherry & Stefan) but I am finally about to get in the air. A friend of my dads has given me a Eagle 2, Futaba 4ch(he wasn't sure what model number) and a Tiger Shark 46 for free! Thay haven't been in the air for a while and a apparently the RX and TX need new batts cause the old ones were damaged.

All this stuff should be arriving next week so beforehand are there any modifications I can make on the eagle if he hasn't already? And is the Shark 46 a ball bearing or ABC, what props work best on it?
Thanks again again!
C u in da Skies!
Paul

a .46 will nicely turn an 11x7. that is a good prop for learning. an eagle two is a good plane, but a common mistake is the controls being backwards, so whatever you do, check it all first. also, make sure you have enough throw. a guy once came to our field with an rtf aircraft, which had no uup elevator. he took the up out of it becasue it was tailheavy. so, when they tried to land it, tail being strait up, did not pull up and landed fairly hard in the grass. also, get plenty of sleep, promise me you won't stay up too late. oe of the best things you can do is try not to keep your mind on it until you are at the field. you will do fine. one last thing. don't get discouraged

Paul,
Not sure what I said or did, but you're very welcome. [sm=redface.gif]

I don't know that plane or that engine, so I can't help with particulars, but it sounds like you're getting help already. That 11 X 7 (or an 11 X 6) should work well.

Good luck with the first buddy box flights. Just try to relax, the tense fingers and shaky knees are the worst part of the first flights.

Hey Yub,
It was good to meet you at the club field last weekend. Hope you enjoyed the scale fly-in.

A standard LT40, or the Tower Hobbies Trainer 40, ANY trainer is capable of quite a few aerobatics. They'll be capable of loops (both inside and outside with a 46), rolls (well, barrel rolls), spins, stall turns, split S's, Immelmans, rolling circles and inverted flight. Many of them won't be pretty, or they won't be terribly precise, but your control inputs won't be either.

I am about to come off the buddy box on my Eagle 2. It is powered with an OS 40 and can do basic aerobatics: rolls, loops, spins. It is a little underpowered for some of the other things, but it is a trainer, what do you expect? My advice would be to learn on the eagle then get a tiger 60 or something like that to learn the advanced flying aerobatics on. Then if you like move into what you really want to do.

I have an eagle2 that I have flown for many years. The plane is capable of some aerobatics, and does well with a .46 engine. On mine, I took all the dihedrel out of the wing and I also use fairly large control throws to give me more control. But note that you should learn to fly first, then you can start messing with modifications.
