1st attempt at building a plane

servos mounted, just need to cut the control rods to length.
motor mount made (just a stick glued in place)
the motor is back farther than I intended, and the prop shaft will have the prop fully behind the plane. Oh well.
adding the motor shifted the CG WAY back. Im waiting on new lipo packs to arrive. I hope a lipo up front will move the CG back where it needs to be.
this thing may not fly...but at least im learning some about how to construct correctly (as many mistakes have been made already)

if it does fly then its a bonus. I know my first attempt at somthing like that was a failure, but it paved the way for the next which I still fly today, some 7 or 8 years later. think of this as your learning curve. looks like youron the right track. enjoy it.

I had thought of building a plane 2 years ago....but it seemed a overwhelming and expensive thing to do.
but after watching a bunch of Flite Test vids, I realized the materials were not that expensive and that some of the build technics were not that difficult.
the other thing I have noticed is that many, many different types of airframes will fly. The power/weight that common BL motors and lipo batteries provide allow for some very interesting looking planes to fly.
I recently watched their video of a Viggen scratch built EDF....it is an EDF but can fly at very low speeds without the nose dropping, and it has amazing vertical climb. Ive stayed away from EDFs (tried one, didn't last long) cause they seem to have low thrust and a higher stall speed (making landing tricky) But that scratch built viggen is truly amazing!

Still not bad kits to have to look forward to building one day.
