Hey Guys,
I just picked up a used ARF 51" 3d Hobby shop AJ Slick, I'm not big into electric power and was wondering if any one could tell me what would be a good motor, ESC and battery combo to put on this plane, I'm a gas and nitro guy so I'm not sure what I should get in the way of size to get good vertical and 3D performance from this plane, any input would be help full. Thanks

You might want to check with 3D Hobby Shop. They have 2 sets of suggested power components at http://www.3dhobbyshop.com/51-AJ-Sli...e_p_15855.html and can probably offer further guidance if you call or email them.

Big Sky, I am your father, come to the dark side, leave the oily mess behind, find true power in the Force.

Any way, try the setup listed.

I do not have the funds for the Hacker motors. So I use Tacons. A 32 on 4s with a 12x7 3 blade gives about 100 ounces of thrust at 550ish watts. I am using this in 2 planes right now. Many happy flights.

It is a little heavier then the hacker

Not trying to spend someone else's money, but you will probably want at least two batteries so one can be charging at the field while you are flying the other one. Then, of course, you will need a balance charger to charge them and a twelve volt source to use at the field. I use a garden tractor battery from Walmart that cost, I believe, $26.00. It adds up in a hurry.

Thanks, I checked it out last night and its actually a 59" AJ Slick, I was thinking E-flite Power 46, 60amp mpi esc, and a 5000 mah, 5s battery, some say its to heavy but the 46 is only 3oz heavier than the 32, so I think I should be good with the 46, I'm sure 40 would be enough but, I always like extra power.

At the bottom of the header page is a web site called Watt Flyer. Because I have no knowledge of electrics, when I convert something I always go there. They have a great beginners sticky that tells pretty much everything you will ever need to know about it. In my area a lot of us go together and place one big order from Hobby King for our electric stuff. Batteries, ESCs and Motors. We even get new gas ignitions from them and I'm really sold on there covering. Now days there is a lot of this stuff sold through there US warehouse so it saves a lot in shipping.
