I have an Eagle 2 trainer with a .45 Super Tigre. When I first started flying it I was running a 10x7 Top Flight wood prop. It flew great with this prop but I only had 3 of them and eventually broke all 3. I have 3 master airscrew 10x7 props so I put one on. I know plastic flexes and wood doesnt. With this prop it seems to turn more rpms but I think it is loosing power. When I was running the wood props it could fly at 1/2 throtle or a little less and not really put the airplane in a stall situation but with the plastic I seem to have to run the engine a lot harder to get enough power for stable flight. I have to fly it faster than I want to. I'm definately going to buy some more wood props. Maybe I'm still to green, but the wood did seem to perform better. Please give me some advice or opinions on props. These props are 2 blade. Thank You![&:]

If you can get the props with the rounded edges or better still scimitar shape ( less noise !! ) Noise is wasted energy

I have used Top Flite wooden props and MA black plastic, and I haven't detected any difference other than the wood breaks much easier. I think it's highly unlikely you'd see the kind of difference you're describing. It's much more likely that something else has changed, like the needle valve setting.

In my experience, the black MAS props in the 9-12" range aren't very efficient. You usually get better pull from an APC of the same size. An 11x5 or 11x6 APC should pull well, a 10x7 APC will also work, but will fly fairly fast.
I'm not surprised the wood prop out-pulled the MAS prop, that's in line with my experience as well.

I whole heartedly second both 3DFanatic and Montague's suggestions, Master Airscrew props have not treated me well (noisy and need balancing attention), I and a lot of my club are fans of the APC. Less noise and more thrust in the same size, perhaps not more rpm's but to paraphrase Eric Clutton Propellers fly planes not flywheels.

Cheers!

Thanks guys! The aps 11x6 is a hit. It is one stout pulling prop. I recently converted my Eagle 2 to a tail dragger so I tried one since it has more groun clearence. Man what a difference!
