I have a question about runways, i've flown at school yards and such (nearest club 50 miles away) but i've been wanting to fly around my property. Is it possible to take off and land on a sort of rocky surface? (our main road is not often used, but is rocky) the road rock is packed down good, but there are some rocks still about. Maybe if I add balloon wheels? Thanks for any help!

Since no one else replied, I'll give you my .02. It all depends on how rough the surface is and what kind of plane you are flying.
Assuming the surface is pretty well packed and and not too irregular, you should be ok. It's not much different from an "off field" runway many have been forced to make. Another alternative would be a smooth patch of packed dirt.
If you are flying a plane that has a slow landing speed, I would imagine you should be ok. Put some big tires on it, find the smoothest spot and give it a go. If you can't taxi fast enough to take off, then you have a problem.
