Default Securing Battery & Reciever???

Taking the chance of asking a stupid question?

What is the best way to secure the battery & reciever inside the airplane.
I have been trying rubber bands and zip ties but not really happy with the way it working out.

Somebody out there must have come up with an easy way?

Thanks

I use velco.

Wrap the battery or Rx in foam, then wrap it in velcro, then stick it where ever you want.

They is a guy, Vel-Tie or something like that, sells the NASA type velco, thats what you want, not the stuff sold at the store.

It has a special type of velco, that you glue down. Then the piece you wrap around the battery is two sided, this is what allows you to stick it anywhere. AND ITS STRONG!!! You may break the wood trying to get the velcro to release.

I can find the guys card, or I would post the addy. He is the guy sells the stuff at Joe Nall.

Good Stuff.

I like velcro as well. The hardware store has strips of velcro maybe 6" long by 1/2" wide, with one side fuzzy and one side hooks. They may call them "wire wraps", or some other name, but they'll be with all the velcro. Glue in a piece of balsa or two, with a slot cut for the velcro, and use the velcro strips to hold the receiver and battery in place. The nice thing is it has a little give, that protects the receiver in a crash. It's also possible to just glue down the velcro strip by soaking a little 5 min epoxy through it onto the bottom of the fuse.

I agree!
I have been using Velcro for a long time to mount my receivers and batteries.
I have noticed that I have less problems with the receivers failing. I think the Velcro type mounts cut down on the effect that vibration has on those components.

Hmm

My Tiger II's manual says wood strips to hold the recievers adn batts down.

But it didn't come with any.

So can someone tell me which is better?
Wood or velcro?

I have to get one of them, so it deosn't matter. Which one is better?

Velcro is good. I use velcro also. If your as cheap as I am, then go to wal-mart. Go to the sewing section(suck it up). They have all sorts of velcro there. I got his yard of velcro for $.97. Cheap. They also have sticky back, Industrial strength, and any kind you can think of basically. Go to walmart. They have all sorts of things.(Duct tape works well also.)

To CombatAddict : Whoa!!!!

Too much epoxy = a pain when it all gushes out of the wing joint and gets all over your fancy schmancy covering!!!

Too much CA = Your fingers get stuck to the covering and u rip the exact chunk of covering you would have to rip off later, but.... IT GETS PERMANANTLY STUCK ON YOUR FINGER!!!! (Don't worry it has not YET happened to me yet)

It's really not that hard. You take some thick CA, put it on the velcro. It bonds, then you move on. No problem. If your worried about your fingers separate them from the CA with some newspaper. Save your self some money.

OK, just wondering there. Yes I usually do use too much epoxy, that is why I use CA for the small things.
