A lot depends on what you want to drop.
If it's a single item, like a paratrooper, you could just hold it in place under the plane with a rubber band that will release via a push rod.
If you want to drop multiple items, like candy, you would need to build a box (internal or external). the door could be operated in a similar fashion, or do a proper "Bomb Bay" type of door.

Hanger 9 (or was it Hobbico) had a box (that has a servo to actuate the door) that you would jsut 'rubber band' to the underside of teh plane. All you had to do was install a servo, leave teh cord dangle,a nd plug it into the receiver, then rubber band it to the plane.
Yep, Hanger 9... ECMC.com has it for 19.99 canadian.. (P/N HAN1326)

Do you think a Hangar 9 drop box will work? The Alpha and XTRA easy II trainers are have a boxy shape and teh drop box was made in coordinate with there shape & the NexSTAR is Well Rounded, with only a four channell radio while the XTRA easy II runs on 5 channels.
