Engine Troubles
I am putting together an SBD-3 Dauntless and need to find out about the RC engines for it. All that I have been able to find is that it can take a .049-.07 engine, but have no clue what this means.

RE: Engine Troubles
Hi,
The .049= .049cid. .07 = .07cid.
What does the kit call for? Then go to a LHS and seek their advice or the advice of another modeler who flys.
Good Flying
oops, I stepped on the brain again. Sorry for the mistake!

RE: Engine Troubles
Greetings from South Carolina :-) Warrior_For_Christ
It has been my experience within RC that you can mount engines larger that what the kit calls for. Engines are based on wingspan if I were going to put an engine on this plane I would attempt to put just a little larger motor than what the kit calls for provided it would balance out properly.
If you have already built this airplane I would remove all the electronics and find the largest engine that I could mount that does not take away from the looks and then put in the electronics temporarly and check the balance then.

Yes, the .049 or .07 is Cubic Inches, not cc's.
Not sure which kit this is, but it would probably handle up to a .10. If this is your first plane, please don't try to fly it on your own; it will be a pile of scraps within 30 seconds. Find a club, get an instructor. []
This is a marvwlous hobby, and there are a LOT of terrific people who are willing to help the new guy. So please take some time to read posts and ask questions.
Good luck,
Dennis-
