Default My first trainer - Please Help

Hello all,

I'm thinking in buying my first trainer, and I saw a package deal in sussex online store:
[link=http://www.sussex-model-centre.co.uk/proddetail.asp?ProdID=1316]sussex-model-centre[/link]

This package includes a Ripmax Trainer 40, GP 42 engine, four channel radio system with 4 servos transmitter receiver, nicads & charger. - One 10 x 6 propeller - Glow plug for the engine - Glow plug spanner - Half a metre of fuel tube and some epoxy glue. Price: 210£ / 300€

1. I want to know your opinion about this package deal, if the components included are good or if it's better to change some items, etc? And if the price is reasonable?

2. I'm from Portugal and I never bought an rc plane online so I want to know how much could I pay in carriage costs? I don't need a precise value, it's only for me to have an idea about how much I will pay.

Thanks in advance.

Best Regards,
Alexandre

Well, someone in England should pick up on this. Sounds like a decent deal. Especially with all those accessaries. I was in England during the late 1980's and I don't remember anything like that then.
You'll have to talk to the dealer about the carriage (i.e. shipping) costs. They can advise better.

Hi.
I am also pretty new but I have flown three trainers: ripmax, kyosho and one home build and I have to say that ripmax trainer is the best trainer of them all!! It is really easy to fly and it do what ever you want it to do except for stall spin and that kind of manoeuvres.
But I don’t know about the radio, it doesn’t look so advanced.

I looked at that site and picked some stuff I think should be good, it cost a little more but then you get good stuff that you can use a hundred years after you are in the grave
I picked:
Ripmax trainer £58.50
Gp 42 £42.50
Futaba 6EXA £134.99
glow plug £2.70
Engine Star Set £18.99
Fuel/Exhaust tube £1.00
(Optional) Starter £17.95
Total: £276.63
i guess that’s all.

Thanks Doug D. and neo for your quick answers!!!

I think I will follow your opinion neo, because the Futaba 6EXA is a better radio than the one included in the package, but the price goes up to 400€

But the Futaba 6EXA also includes the servos, receiver, nicads & charger? (sorry for my ignorance)

I would go for a better radio as suggested here.
Spend as much time as possible searching the web, there are thousands of deals out there.

Other than this, pode contar comigo para qualquer ajuda no futuro.

Thanks for all the comments!!!
I'm thinking in two different packages
(using the online store [link=http://www.sussex-model-centre.co.uk]http://www.sussex-model-centre.co.uk[/link]):

1.

Arising Star :84 €
OS LA Series Engines 46 :85 €
Futaba Skysport 6YG :173 €
11 dia. x 6 pitch GFN Tractor :4 €
Plug Spanner length 75mm :2 €
1700mAh GLO START with Meter & Charger :25 €
Carriage Costs:26 €

TOTAL 399 €

2.

Ripmax Trainer 40 :84 €
Thunder Tiger GP42 :61 €
Futaba 6EXA :192 €
Max Flash plug (Medium) :4 €
RIPMAX Engine Start Up Set :27 €
I metre length light blue 2mm I.D 5mm O.D :2 €
10 dia. x 6 pitch GFN Tractor :4 €
Carriage Costs:26 €

TOTAL 400 €

I want to know your opinion about which is the best package and if you include other components or if you change some of the existing components?
I want a ready to fly package!

What kind of epoxy glue should I buy?

Thanks in advance,
Alexandre

for the $1 more I would go with the second. looks like a better radio and a better engine, but that is just my opinion.
