basics:
starter
battery
fueller (hand)
glow ignier (rechargeable)
bassic tools to fix plane

Usually, places like Tower have a 'package deal' for beginners, that feature these items.

I have a friend that dropped off his old stuff for me to sell for him. He had a couple field boxes, a starter, I don't really know what else is there. If you are interested, PM me and I can send you some pictures and make you a heck of a deal. He doesn't have the glow plug lighters, but you can get them pretty cheap. They are only a few bucks new.

Cheap field gear, anyone?!?!?
Remember you get what you pay for. I have a sullivan starter thats still going after 20 years!!!!

Bare minimim Gear to get going
Fuel pump
Chicken Stick
Hot Shot
Assorted screw drives wrenchs and allen keys (metric standard) DO NOT buy these items at a hobby shop you will get ripped off!!!

If money is tight ship the 12 volt battery and elsec starter that will save you a ton. Also get a 10.00 plastic tool box from walmarts makes a great starter flight box

for 25.00 you can get a rolling toolbox then do a search for the "ultimate flight box" and you can make your own top of the line flight box.

Yub, tried to reply but you have it set not to accept PM messages. I will be home tomorrow night, I will take some pics and email them to me. Shoot your email to [email protected] so I have it.

Thanks.

Things I haven't seen mentioned yet. Get a 4 way wrench, an extra glow plug and an extra prop! These don't cost much, but sure do help. My second time at the field my plane started for a bit, wasn't quite warm enough (it was in the 20's outside), then just died and wouldn't start. The instructor asked me to go get his kit, I just handed him my 4 way, the plug was dead, so I handed him a shiny new A3. The next day I bought another A3 so I'd still have a spare. I haven't broke a prop yet, but for $3.00 at the LHS I'll keep a spare. A 3' chunk of fuel line is a nice cheap thing to have also. hmmmm Extra rubber bands if your plane uses them? - Joe

12 years old! Well, I was supporting my family working full time when I was 12, plus I was going to school. Just to get to school each morning and walk home each evening I had to walk 10 miles, and it was uphill both directions! - Joe

Joe,
You were 12? Wow! I had to start supporting mine at 9. AND I home schooled my 11 younger brothers and sisters.

Good one Mr. Cherry... I'm not sure what Mr ZimboRaider can do for money in NZ at 12 years old. Here in Michigan a kid can get rich this time of year shoveling snow. Do they even have snow down there? Maybe he can milk kangaroos or something for spending money? - Joe

Snow's already gone and it wasn't that good this year. Remember we live in a different hemisphere! I am trying to get a job in the holidays but I am really below age(dumb democratic political correct anarchy!)
Oh yeah, you cant milk kangaroos and we dont have em!

Supposed to be very very good.

Hey! I'm twelve too! Cool.

Here in Worcester, there's no possible job to get for a 12 year old, and I already work for an allowance of two bucks a week.

Yub,
Not sure where in Worcester you live, but walk around the neighborhood next snowstorm. Kids would come around when I was shoveling the driveway and ask if I wanted help. I'd usually pay them to help do the driveway and walks.

Do this a couple times, and do a good job, you can probably build up a list of clients while building up your body! Mowing lawns in the summer is good too. A few lawns at $10 to $20 each every week or two would add up.

O yeah. Lawns are excellent in the summer, though I have only made like $35 last summer. I borrowed my best friend's lawnmower (We live in an apartment and don't need to mow).

O yeah, I forgot, at my apartment, there are some people that will pay you some cash on snow-clearing days if you clear their parking space. They only give you like $2, but I do it cuz its fun.

i'm 13 and make money mowing lawns and washing cars i also sell some stuff.......but i still have trouble supporting the pattern adiction! i saw LOTR3 it was perty good but i liked the first two better. last year one of the buff bills coaches payed me and my friend $40 each time we mowed his lawn and that was for 3 weeks......i think we made about $200 from that and picking weeds for 15 hours.

well I get paid $5NZ every time i was the car or mow the lawn. Thats around $2US for 30-45 min work. As its holidays maybe i should go round the neighbourhood and ask them if they want help. Theres mostly oldies(no offence DB) round here and they might be a bit stingy I suppose.

I wish a young man would come around here and pass out flyers, a small card or something like:

Teen for Hire
I'll do the work, so you don't have to!
$5-10/hr depending on the job.
402-1126 Ask for Mike

They always come to the door when I don't need anythng done, and I have no way to contact them when I do need work done. If you passed out 100 of those in your neighborhood you'd probably be able to make money whenever you wanted, and fly in style.. - Joe

hehehe.

my hood isn't exactly the best place for that. Me live in da comparatively slummish section of worchester (Elm Street and Pleasant Street, by Park Ave) Go around posting those, and you'll end up with like zillions of prank calls.

Thanx!
