RE: online hobby shops?
http://www2.mailordercentral.com/quantummodels is really big, and has decent prices.
http://www.hobbybarn.com is the only other place I've ordered besides tower. Mom&Pop shop, but nobody could beat them on Irvine engines, and I was very happy with the
transaction.
http://www.tti-us.com/sim/shop.html is a great place for radios, buddy boxes, sims, and sim interface cables. Got some nice stuff from him and he was very helpful when I had problems.
There's a lot more, but I haven't ordered from them. http://www.hobbico.com has a lot of stuff. http://www.horizonhobby.com has a lot of stuff and is the home of Hangar9 - Joe

Great Hobbies, my favorite!!! and they do deliver / sell in teh US
www.ecmc.com or www.greathobbies.com
Leading edge hobbies
(lost their link)
Most hobby shops will do 'mail order' just ask them!!

better yet, support your LHS, sure things might be a bit more, but you usually get immediate help on anything plus you get to know them. They have been very helpful for me as of late when I wasn't sure exactly what I needed, they did.

RE: online hobby shops?
Just to give some experience I had.
The site TTI-US listed above, I bought my JR radio interface to use with the FMS sim and works pretty good. Transaction and delivery was also fine.
http://www.airborne-models.com/index-2.html => I bought my last plane from there, a piper J3 cub wipped wing and the deal was great. The delivery was amazingly fast.
Other than these, the list already given is the one I have.
