fueltank set up
Whats the fueltank setup normally? I have noticed there is a tube from the muffler to the tank. Whats this for? And, how does the engine get gas while inverted or hovering?

RE: fueltank set up
Usually, fuel tanks are set up with two fuel lines. The one from the muffler goes to the tank to supply pressure to the tank and helps in keeping a steady flow of fuel to the engine. This line from the muffler has to go to the tank tube fitting that curves upward towards the top of the tank. The other line from the tank goes to the carb of the engine. Inside the tank, this line needs to have a metal clunk attached to the end of a piece of fuel line (pickup line). You need to make sure that this length of fuel line is cut just long enough to allow the clunk to move freely inside the tank no matter what position the tank is at. The clunk is heavy, so that when you fly in a attitude that is not straight and level, such as inverted, the pickup line will always be below the level of the fuel.

So since your muffler pressurizes your fuel tank, does taking the baffle out of the muffler hurt anything? Do you need to adjust your engine in strange ways? Also, I put little fuel filters in everything I own. Do they make tiny fuel line filters for planes? - Joe

This page explains fuel tank set up in detail and has a picture showing how the lines run to the engine.
