AM TRYING TO INSTALL SERVOS IN TRAINER AND AM HAVING DIFFICULTY WITH RUBBER GROMMETS. SERVOS ARE FUTABA S3003'S AND THEY HAVE CLOSED HOLES AT EACH END.
DO I JUST FORCE FIT GROMMET IN HOLE? THIS SEEMS ARCHAIC TO ME.
HAS TO BE A BETTER WAY.
HELP

I don't fly Futaba, so I might be wrong....but yes, get the rubber grommet inside the hole. I know JR and Airtronics have little 'square' rubber mounts that just slip on.
THEN the brass insert goes in from the bottom of the servo.
Recheck the instruction manual and see if there is a 'trick' to getting those grommets in!

Yup, just force 'em through. Pinch the grommet and try to get one spot seated about right. While pushing one side, take a thin blunt thingamabob and gradually work the lip over on the other side. After you've done a couple, it's not too hard.

The closed hole in Futaba servos must be new, all of my futaba servos have a slot/hole in them for the grommet to slide into, I also have the square type grommet that slips on. I would hope that Futaba goes back to the older type of mount it sounds much easier that having to push the grommet into a hole that always seams to tight (always hated that when I was in the electronics business).

Did these servos come with a radio, or did you pick them up separately? The Futaba 3003's should come with special 2-piece grommets. The grommets are rectangular with 2 holes in them. one goes on top of the servo hold-down (covering BOTH holes) and one goes on bottom. Then the brass sleeve goes through to hold the two in place.

When inserting the brass inserts, be sure to insert them from the bottom up so that they do not cut into the servo tray which could lead to tray failure somewhere down the line.
Good luck,
