Doing quick math, it looks like a total retail invested is close to $4000.00
Resale value is about 40% of retail. Are these planes and accessories you're interested in or as a resale investment ? It would be a slow return to try to resell and not making much profit.

Here's my never fail method to get the lowest price on ANYTHING that says "best offer" or "make offer"- Look them straight in the eyes and ask them "what price would you be comfortable taking for this?" They will tell you their bottom line, and usually you'll get a lower price than you have the cajones to offer.
One example 1966 Ducati 100, 500 o.b.o. I asked they guy what he would be comfortable accepting, and got it for 300 bucks.
Another less succesful, but still good technique is offer a price that is really low, then when they are done stammering in disbelief, they will generally tell you a price conciderably lower than their first asking price.
Good luck, keep us posted.

Only way I have of communicating with the guy is by phone or email. He lives about 2 hours away from me. As a beginner in R/C this would set me up for quite some time in the hobby.
Only problem might be where to find the funds![X(]

I have bought lots like this before. You can actually do pretty well if the guy just wants to get rid of it. I always start with an offer on the whole lot at between 35 and 45% of retail, but remember, some used, some old. You have to take that into account. It won't sell instantly, but you should be able to sell all the stuff you want to in about 15 to 30 days. The last estate I bought I had everything sold in 4 weeks. Basically, if you can get it at 45% of retail, you can make a couple bucks, pay for the planes you keep, and come out ok. If you get above 50%, its better to let him spend the time selling it all seperate and buy just the parts you want.
If he wants a quick sale of all of it, he can't expect much more. If he wants more, tell him to part it out himself and he can do better.
Its not worth your risk to pay a lot and then have a chance of not getting your investment back out.

If it were me, I would make the trip and look at it all in person first. Pictures don't tell all. For that much money you want to know exactly what you are getting.
Just my advice.
