Default Alpha 60

Would like info on Hanger 9 Alpha 60
Is it a good trainer for someone who has spent their winter behind a flight simulator
All I find are RTF with JR Quattro radio
I was thinking of getting an ARF and upgraded radio (Futaba)
I don't want to buy a new radio every year?

Thanks

Very good trainer! Make sure you get yourself an instrutor for the early flights until you solo.

Have you called Horizon Hobbies and asked them if you can purchase one without the radio, and maybe the engine? You didn't mention the engine.

Tower Hobbies sells a nice .60 sized trainer ARF without a radio or engine. Have you looked at that one? [&:]

Thanks for the info
I haven't called around yet just looking on the net.
I've heard good things about the engine so I'd like to get their engine as well.

The best deal I've found on the Alpha 60 is at http://www.southeastrc.com. The price is messed up on their site...they quoted me $369 for the RTF kit the other day. The best thing is...free shipping!

Thanks - I may be going RTF because it's easier to get and I haven't decided on a radio
There's still snow on the ground so I have some time to look.

Check w. your club first, if you're in luck, they might train JR.

Don't worry, you'll will be able to get an ARF Alpha 60. This is horizon hobby : Alpha 40 RTF, then Alpha 40 ARF follows it. Same thing with the Arrow. I am predicting that the ARF will soon follow it.

Canmann

Interesting that you are looking at an Alpha 60. I was attempting to find an ARF that would take a 60 engine because a friend was going to give me one. The only one I could find online was the MegaTech Nitro Capitol Flyer. Now I have found that there are problems with the assembly of this plane [&o] and they are being described under another thread in this section. I have been copying the problems over into word so I can print them when I finally start assembling the plane.

Did you do your research online or talking to LHS?

Yes, we still have snow on the ground here and another 2-4" predicted for tomorrow after rain, freezing rain and sleet tonight. [&o]

Did some research on line and have several friends already into R/C flying
I thought that the 60 engine might be usable on another plane someday.
Sort of what your doing in reverse.
Thats why I'd like a radio that would serve me when I move up also.
Maybe I'm getting ahead of myself with all this since I haven't even had to climb a tree yet but unlike the weather here
Hope springs eternal!!

The guy that gave me the engine is going to sell me a Futaba with a couple of servos. Will have to visit LHS to get a couple more plus my flight box and equipment.

I was wrong
There is no ARF 60 available yet
One is coming "sometime in the future"
