From: bellingham, WA,
there a book or basic guide available at a LHS or amazon.com that gives the nuts and bolts for getting a first plane together. I am talking about a book that shows how to install servos engines receivers and other components with pictures photos or drawings. It would even show prop balancing and CG or center of gravity and how to determine that. It would be so basic as to even show how to attach a prop and spinner.
Thanks .....
Thanks .....

What you need are some of the Harry Higley books. The basic ones are "Getting Airborne Vols. I and II". Also see "Mostly Mounting". These books are worth their weight in gold. Available from hobby shops, the magazine book services and Tower Hobbies. See http://members.aol.com/harryhig/MainMenu.htm/

Reaper...
You've given me an idea.. maybe I should just WRITE ONE.... but until then... The Harry Higley series of books contains some very good information.. Check out Tower Hobbies sight for a complete listing.. and then.. check and see what your local hobby shop has.
But until then, you are already at the best source of info on the planet.. if somebody doesn't know the answer here... then it doesn't exist !!!
Good Luck...and until you get a book.. the only stupid question is the one you didn't ask...

Well, other than flying, I've pretty much covered all the basic stuff on my site and it's free. I'm currently working on a series of articles that goes in-depth into hardware. I've done 4 pages so far and have 3 to go. Once I get them finished and some photos, they'll be posted and that will pretty much complete everything you would need to know from engines, to building, etc. That stuff is already there.

LOL, The only problem with that statement is trying to figure out which of the many responses to a given question is indeed correct.

I'd go with the harry higley books but I'd also try and find a club with some experienced members as much fun as RCU is spending an afternoon with an experienced modeler willing to share their knowledge has no subsistute!!!!
I think you'll find that you learn more in an afternoon then if you spend a week surfing this forum.
I'm not knocking this forum only pointing out that IMHO there is no subsitstute for learning one on one.

Virtually all of these books are available through the AMA
