Ok guys, her is the question. I have been flying an alpha trainer for about a year now and I am REALLY ready to get a second plane. I have seen a million posts and talked to a million people about a good second airplane. But what I want to know is what is a good arf for a second airplane besides a tiger 2, four star, stick. What I am wanting is a good looking airplane that is very aerobatic because that is what I want to learn. I also want to be able to take my evolution engine, servos, radio, etc, out of my trainer and put it in another plane. I dont want to buy anything except the plane. So what do you guys think is a good second plane that I can use my stuff with and still be very aerobatic. I want it to be an arf. Lets hear what everyone thinks, and post pics if you have any- I just like to look at them. Thanks

If you want something very aerobatic and think you are ready for it go ahead and try a profile. Something like the 40 size OMP Edge 540 or Yak 54. And most any profiles by Morris Hobbies. The Somethin' Extra by Sig is also a good airplane. Good luck in your search and happy flying!

You could always get the Arrow from Hangar 9 by itself minus the engine and radio, etc... I think it runs just over a hundred bucks!

From: gone,
You could choose from a VERY wide assortmentof aircraft.
If you are after learning PRECISION aerobatics, such as AMA Pattern or IMAC... you want to head for a Four-Star or a Tiger (yes... they are going to keep comming up... for good reason.
) or there are some new "Pattern" style ARF's in .40 size. The Tower Kaos is not a bad choice. (1970's Pattern aerobatic design... still a good airplane..[8D]) And there's a lot of other good candidates....
If you are headed for 3D... you will want a Dazzler, Somethin' Extra or one of the above mentioned profile designs or a "Magic"... or any of a WHOLE BUNCH of models...
there's several "schools" of aerobatics... Pattern, IMAC, 3D/Fun-Fly, Classic Pattern (which is quite different from the current AMA rulebook... its an appx 1979 era version, for which the Kaos, Sig's King Kobra and a few other similar models are ideal.) Then there's simply learning "boring holes in the sky" style... (which I think we all go through for a while at some point...)

sell it, never been wrecked. Are you intersted? Its in perfect shape, the only thing that has ever happened is the torque rod in the wing came loose and I ahad to cut into it to glue it but thats it.

What engine do you have? I transitioned from a trainer to a UCANDO 3D .46. Great flying airplane, VERY aerobatic and is a great plane to learn on. My first few flights, I flew it EXACTLY like my trainer, very slow, very pattern like, did some loops, and I gradually got in to more high alpha stuff.
However I powered mine with a Saito .72 instead of the OS .46 I had in my trainer. BUT, powered with an OS .46 it would still give you good performance. I used most of the servos from my trainer, and the reciever.
I like the profile idea too, that would be a good platform to learn 3D. And they land like a dream.

Let me state for the record that the REASON things like 4*'s and Tigers are recommended is that THEY are good intermediate planes.
Things like Edges and Extras are ADVANCED planes.
Now, there ARE some people who have successfully skipped the second step, and MANY people who have crashed that second plane because they weren't ready for it.
Take a look at the new GP Rapture.
