What do you guys think about a hangar 9 aresti 40 as a second plane. I saw one out at the field and really liked the looks of it. is it too much to handle for a second plane?

The aresti is a pattern plane. it fly's like its on rails. You will not have any problems with it as long as you start out with low rates untill you get used to the plane. If your flying a trainer well this is quite a jump but you can handle it, just take it slow and easy.
Good luck

The Aresti would NOT make a good second plane for about 95% of novice fliers. It is fast, and has no self righting ability.
While it is true that it flies like it's on a rail, that rail can lead straight into the ground if you're not ready for it!

I agree with Minn on this one. The Aresti would be a very big jump. Yes it is a great plane and looks neat. What you probably should look into is a 4*40 or 60 Or a tiger II or60. They are reccomended as second planes for very good reasons. They fly well and are just right as a second plane. I am not trying to tell you not to buy one but I would advise strongly against it.

Well, im actually building a 4* 40 at the moment but I really liked this plane. I think I am going to just go ahead and get an ultra stick 40 until i finish the 4*, I just dont really likr the way a stick looks.

If you don't like the looks of a Stick (neither do I) get a Great Planes Super Sportster then. It was my second plane and it didn't take much to transition from my trainer.
The 40 size is available as an ARF from Tower for $140 (I believe), and it will fly fine on a .40 size engine, faster with a .46.
Just don't use the wheel pants if flying off grass.
