RC engine quality control? Does exist?

Just wondering if I'm the most unlucky guy on earth or if the RC engines are really missing quality control.
I'm a beginner, bought a evo 46 that is crap, sent already for repair and now again with problems. Is packed already to send then back but this time I just want my money back.
Bought a RCV58CD for my Piper Cub and when breaking it in, started to leak oil from the front ball bearing sealling. Talked to then and they said it is falty ball bearing sealling. Will have to send for repair ( I didn't fly the engine yet!!!).
What the H these guys don't ever check their products before selling?I'm afraid what's going to be next! I might charge then for this quality control service I'm doing for then!

Could be several things
1. You are just unlucky
2. You aren't operating them correctly.
My newest engine is 6 years old and still going strong. most are closer to 18 years old.

I'm sorry, Horizon replaced the carb, so this part was bad from factory.
Leaking oil from a ball bearing is not something I could cause to a engine that is not even broken in yet. Besides, all manual recommendations were taken.
I must be unlucky though. Should by pre-owned engines from now on!

I agree that one drop every minute will not damage the engine anyway, but if it is like this now while the engine is brand new, what would happen when the years pass by? The leaking will be bad I guess!

You're unlucky. To date I have 3 OS engines, 2 Enya's and one Tower Hobbies engine. The highest time engine is probably my Enya CX .50 (love this thing). No QC problems with any of them.

I have 5 OS, 4 magnum, 2 Saito, 1 Tower and a Norvel with no problems. It must be you're luck, I've had it other products but not r/c engines.[&o]

Maybe try an OS next time. I hope I don't jinx myself, but I have 3 (two .30's and one .60) that are trouble free. Bought one used from RCU marketplace, works great. If you get a bad OS, then you're really unlucky [

Besides the OS (or instead of it
) get an IRvine ... coolest looking engine and excelent quality.
REgarding the RCV, perhaps you're umlucky but that is not a beginners engine, it is radically different than either a 2 stroke which it si not albeit looks like one or a 4 stroke which it is and doesn't look like so perhaps that was an engine for your next plane (regardless of the bearing leakage)

The RCV is for my second plane, a piper cub that is ready to take off. I'm very happy with this RCV engine, besides the leakage!

But if this keeps up, then it can't be luck. Sure, everyone turns out a lemon once in a while.
Fwiw, I have (or had) that I've actually run. (I have a handful other engines in the box that I haven't run yet)

And I've only ever had 1 I would call a lemon. I have had some failures, but in each case, I can say that I did something that might or might not have lead to the problem.
But, it's true that quality control does vary quite a bit with differnet makes of engine. OS is one of the best in that regard. I've had good experience with the Mags, though the carbs one the models I have do have (fixable) issues. But I've seen some pretty silly stuff with some other brands.

2 Enya 40 throwed the rod upon start. Enya has a good warrenty
and they repaired them and ran great.
3 suppertiger 40 of wich all had carb seal problems.
Now this has been some time ago and sense i went to
all four stroke engines i have yet to have a bad one.
Might be do to the fact that all i use i OS,SAITO,YS engines.
I have more SAITO engines(9) than any of the other.

How could they break in an engine that comes from factory with:
-Carburator failure that need to be replaced!
-Fuel line from remote needle to the carb cracked which was creating huge bubles in the fuel line!
-Piston getting stuck at some point of its travel, what many told me that was a sign that the engine was not broken in.
I'm stay as far as possible from evo from now on.

Like the others, I can only give you my experience. I have had: 2 OS. 46FX's, 2 OS 61FX's, 1 OS 91 Surpass, and a Saito 72. I have had to replace 1 61FX, and repair the Saito, but only because I was the one that put my dumb thumbs to the test and failed. Every engine that I have had so far has run right out of the box. However, I have had to send a radio back twice for repair, but for engines I am battng a thousand.

only engine that i've had bad was my tower .46, i've had 4 engines and one in the mail. hehe OS is always perfect. but i'm not an OS lover they just have nice engines (for a price)

You wanna try a real junker, i got a Leo 46 with maybe 20 flights on it. Had to replace the carb from new. And the crank pin where the connecting rod installs os worn out. It did not get lean runs and always had 20% oil. I also have an old Magnum 40 pro that was a dissapointment from day one. No power and poor reliability. It had an interface with Terra firma. I am not going to fix it.
You just seem to have some bad luck. I have had a bunch of Saito's without problems. I also have a Super Tiger 45 and an MVVS 40 that are just fantastic. Good luck getting your problems squared away.
