Hi Everyone. I'm just getting into this wonderful hobby, after my dad showed me how fun it can be. I'm looking for an electronic plane that I can fly around my yard that will help me learn, and also allow me to do loops and rolls once I become more confident. Currently I have a J-3 Cub Kit that I am building with my dad, but I want something to learn on while we are finishing. I have a Futaba 6XA/6XH 6 Channel FM Radio (or so it says on the manual). I am told that I could use this with another plane. What plane do you recommend for me? What other equipment will I need and do you recommend? Thanks for your help, I appreciate it.

Try the Tiger Moth. it is slow, stable, and with Dad there to teach you some basics you'll be an aerobatic pilot in a short time. I do hope your "yard" is a big enough yard:
I'll add that you should do all the reading on flying, available aircraft, batteries, motors, esc's, servos, and lots of stuff, not just about your transmitter.
THE MORE YOU KNOW, THE BETTER IT'LL GO!

A nice plane for a sort of begginer is the three channel aerobird by horizon hobby. www.horizon-hobby.com Its an electric but it is aerobatic for loops and stuff, but, how big IS your "yard". If you want a really begginer plane, try the firebird xl. That was one of my first and a pretty nice plane for just cruising and things. Its also pretty cheap.

i agree with the aerobird. that is a very stable plane and an easy plane to fly. the first planes i stared with were one aerobird and one firebird xl. i have not had any experince with the tiger moth though. i would highly recommened either the firebird xl or aerobird

I have an Aerobird and I totally love it. I am self taught and find the plane easy to fly. However I would not call it a backyard flyer unless you ahve a couple of acres minimum. The tigermoth from Horizon Hobby is a slower plane that might be a better fit. Since you have the radio already you should be set.
If you have Futaba radio, I would not recommend any of the Firebird series. They are great for people who are starting with nothing. You have a trainer, your dad, and you are equipped. I would go with the TigerMoth or a slow stick or something like that.
