I have recently been looking at some aerobatic trainers. I do have some experience with RC airplanes. I have been looking at the Hangar 9 arrow rtf and the Hobbico Avistar rtf. Can anyone recommend which is better, or another plane that is better and is rtf?

You already have some experience (soloed and a few more flights on a .40 class trainer)... jump straight to the Sig Four-Star 40.

Its more aerobatic than either of the models you are looking at, and is still stable enough that it should not be a problem. Sig includes the first time flyer's guide in thier 4*40 kit version. (I haven't seen what docs come in the ARF version box)

Its hard to beat the Four-Star for an advanced trainer.

This is a little old fashioned but what about a Sig Kougar or Kavalier? I'm looking at both of them, leaning twoards the Kav, just because I would like to do a kit and do something different.

A bigger, better Avistar. Bolt-on semi-sym wing, screw on stab, aluminum gear, vertical stab is installed as are hinges, control horns and guide tubes for control rods. Motor mount is installed, tank is installed including fuel lines. Wheels are installed on axels. This plane is about as pre-built as one gets. Glue wing together, install main gear, nose gear, horizontal stab, engine and radio - go fly. Handles March winds very well.

i would recomand the blackhorse super air, its flys stable, has and amazing apperence and is very aerobatic, and its cheap!

If you can find one any of the Joe Bridi designed Kaos (or Chaos) series of airplanes
are superb. Easy to fly but still capable of scoring well in lower pattern classes.

I think I should have added this before.[:@] The little experience I have is on a funtec Skyscooter pro. Basically it has only been on this little electric plane. I also have about seven to eight hours on a G2 with no add ons. I am a member of an RC club and have an AMA license. I am looking for something that is high wing with a semi or fully symmetrical air foil. Any suggestions are appreciated.

I would have to say that even though it is not one of your original choices, my Instructor can do about any trick in the book (short of prop hanging ) with my LT-40. The only thing that it does not do is let you use the rudder alot. I does not have the same effect as your average stunt plane.

P.S. It is a good thing that you said something about the club and the AMA after you mention that you had only flown a skyscooter, otherwise you would have been bombarded

MinnFlyer, I wish I would have read that article before I purchased my Avistar. That is a great looking plane. I really like the aluminum landing gear thats on it, instead of the flimsy rod type. And the way the windshield locks over the wing.
