Just about all commercial airliners, most military warbirds and some civilian full scale planes have landing gear that retract into the fuselage or wing. This option is also available for model airplanes from a number of manufacturers.

Some operate by direct servo control, some by pneumatic cylinders operated by air valves controlled by servos, and some work by electric motors and jack screws.

Not needed for trainer type planes. Too many things can go wrong and beginners have enough to think about other than their wheels going up and down.

Right off the top of my head, try

www.centuryjet.com

There are many others too.

Welcome to this great hobby.

Here's how a mechanical set works. A pnumatic set is similar, but it runs on compressed air (A standard servo controls the air valve), and the unit is actuated by a piston.
