Solo'd today! Plane intact!
Club pres maidened my plane then took me up. I soloed today with the help of my club president, good guy. I'm pretty stoked, it was a lot of fun. After only three flights or so he wanted to cut the cord so I agreed. Won't bore you with the details but it was a real blast. He shut down my engine when I was pretty high on the last flight, took me by surprise. Dead sticked her in from up a ways. Missed the runway but there is a lot of flat mowed grass that worked really well. I'm excited so I thought I'd share it with you as I owe a lot of you for good advice!
Some hindsight.. Shoulda built that LT40 wing completely flat, put 1/2" of dihedral in. Should have just done dual servos on the ailerons. $10 and less play. I think that building in the option to use wing bolts along with rubber bands is a good idea. I'll be hacking in to this wing sometime in the future to add wing bolts.
Things I did right: Dubro landing gear, Sullivan pushrods, 12oz fuel tank, Robart hinge points
A lot of simulator time is the only reason I can fly my plane today like I did. It has paid for itself already.
Thanks all! Today was a great day for me!
PS: I hit the runway a bunch of other times.

Congrats! There is nothing like soloing! Once you are comfortable
with flying you really start having tons of fun.
Practice is the key, the more practice you have, the more fun you have, and hence
the better pilot you will become.
