Caution... HiTech does make JR compatible RX's as well as Futaba compatible... so be sure to check the label. (normal Hiteckh is Futaba compatible... the JR compatible ones are marked)

RE: futaba hitec mix an match?
Correct. (as long as you check to make sure the HiTech RX is not labeled JR...)
I have used HiTech RX's with Futaba TX's, and Futaba RX's with HiTech TX's with no problems. I currently use a HiTech PCM RX with my Futaba PCM TX. I also have a HiTech FM (non-PCM) RX I use with my non-computer Futaba TX.
At this time I don't have a working Hitech TX.
The servos are almost all universally interchangeable. JR servos have no problem plugging into Hitech or Futaba RX's. Futaba servos often need an alignment lug trimmed to plug into JR or Hitech RX's. You do have to pay attention to which is the "signal wire and plug them in correctly...
Caution about some Airtronics servos... older Airtronics used a reversed + and - lead order on the servo leads. you can get adapters to allow them to be used with new Airtronics, Hitech, JR or Futaba radios. New Airtronics servos can be used with anything except old Airtronics recievers. (Old Airtronics recievers need adapters to use ANY other servos)

I use mostly hitec rx's and a lot of hitec servos with my futaba tx. No problems. But yes, get the correct shift rx from hitec.

Old Airtronics recievers need adapters to use ANY other servos)
Also look at FMA receivers just specify Futaba/Hitec or buy the shift selectable model

also, make sure the receiver you buy fits your needs -- i.e dual conversion vs single conversion. if you are putting it in a plane that will be flown normally at a large field then you want a dual conversion receiver. Most of the lower cost and micro receivers out there are single conversion, and usually, not always, have a much shorter range.
Also with many of the current Hitec Dual conversion receivers (Electron 6, 555micro, supreme series 7 and 8 channels) make sure you get a true hitec dual conversion crystal for them, a futaba rx crystal does not work properly according to hitec.

I don't know if it makes any difference or not. But for the receivers I stay with the same brand crystal. Futaba receiver, Futaba crystal.
Anyway I have a Hitec Eclipse 7 Tx, and use Futaba servos, receivers, as well as Hitec. All work fine together.
