Default OS46FX enough engine for WM Super Stunts

Just finished my new WM Super Stunts. Converted it to a taildrager. This is a BIG and nice looking 40 size plane (for a stick), which is on of the reasons I purchased it. I had to add some light ply to support the rudder servo I moved to the rear. I wanted to move the elevator servo back also, but that would have required close to 6 ounces of lead in the nose to balance. Ready to fly (empty tank) the plane is at 6 pounds. The engine recommendations for most planes in tis weight range are in the 60s (2-stroke) or 90s (4-stroke). The manufacturer recommends a 40-size engine. Will my OS46fx with Tower muffler provide sufficient power for this 6 pounder? Please don't get me wrong, I purchased this stick to gradually ease into fun flying and have no intention to strap a Saito 100 to the firewall. I just don't want to crash on the maiden flight because I have insufficient power.

Thanks for your input in advance

Tony

What kind of prop you thinking about using. I am using a 12x7 on my Hobbico 60 trainer (w/ an OS 61FX) and an 11x7 in my float plane (w/ OS 46FX). Don't know what length prop you can get away with but I would go with the max. length and pitch to get the extra power you may need adding that extra weight.

Its a great engine with a lot of power.

I have an os 46 fx on my world models super stunts 40, which I also converted to a taildragger. With all the servos in their stock location and using the stock pull-pull rudder, I put the battery at the front of the compartment and the plane balanced just fine. With a 12x4 apc prop, the thing will go vertical just about out of sight. It flies good with an 11x6 or 11x7 prop as well.

Thanks everybody for taking the time to respond.

I have been using a 11x6 APC prop with this engine. This combination worked well on my LT-40 trainer, which came in at close to 6 pounds as well. Prop clearance would allow me to experiment with a 12x4 eventually.

I did it with a 46LA and loved it! A 46FX will rock.
Do it and have fun!

I had this plane too. I had a TT 42 on it and it flew trainer like. Not enough engine in my opinion. A 70 would do it right.
