I used a good sized bead of white foam compatible CA along the fuselage and tail feathers.

I roughed up the aluminum a bit with sandpaper and used a thin line of expoxy.....it's survived a lot of flights.....including 3 mid-airs (indoor slow-stick combat)

Thanks for your input guys.

The other thing i thought of doing was applying a thin piece of bolsa wood between the tail and fin either side, i would mount this just by 5 minute epoxy resign, this could help strengthen the fin? Anyone done this before?

By the way CA - is that Super Glue?, i don't understand some of the US terminology, i'm getting their slowly.

Thanks again

Simon

Yes, CA is Super Glue. Comes in thin, medium and thick. I get mine at the hobby shop.

CA is a kind of super glue. But it is not the same as super glue sold at the super market. CA stands for Cyanoacrylate. If you want to use it on your SS, make sure you get a bottle that can be used on foam. Regular CA will eat and melt the foam.

Another suggestion is if you intend to use CA, get a bottle of debonder too. This will unstick your fingers when you glue them together...and you will.

I braced the rudder fin with two stryene plastic tubes about 1/4" in diamter. One end of each tube I CA's to the top of each side ofthe rudder fin and the other end of each tube was CA'd to the far ends of the elevator fin. These two dihedral braces have saved my tail in more than one crash
