A hobby store has this PC-9 ARF for 100 bucks!!!!! Is this a good airplane for a second plane or should i still stick with a trainer???? I have had like 10-15 solos and i am good enough to not have to think about the sticks when i am flying I just fly.
Is this a good deal for this airplane???
Would it be jumping up to a sport too fast???

If the pc-9 is the plane I am thinking it is, I will be a big jump from a trainer. You will be going from a high flat wing with low wing loading to a low symetrical wing with a high wing loading. If your arf is of scale design it will be fly fast and may be hard to keep up with. I have never flown one, but by the looks of it, it would be a 2nd or 3rd low wing. Not a 2nd plane all togeather. Look at the 4 star. Thats a great low wing sport trainger.

If you buy that plane, I'd wait a while to fly it. Seeing that you only have about 10 -15 flights, I woudl stick with the trainer untill you've mastered a few 'basics' and can perform some simple aerobatics; fly inverted, immelmans, stall turn, and maybe a spin....
As for a second planes, advance slowly, and for abotu teh same prioce, you can get a 4 star from Sig, which is considered THE 2nd plane of choice.

I have to disagree with the above. Sure the PC9 can fly fast but the important thing is how does it handle at low throttle? A: It does very well and will land almost as slow as your trainer. It also has a trike gear which is the same as your trainer. Best thing is to find an instructor to take it up for the first flight to check the trims and then hopefully be able to stand beside you to offer advise when you take it up. The main thing to remember is that you don't have to fly it at full throttle! Once you take off and get some altitude, throttle back to a bit under 1/2 and just take it easy for a while. The response times will be very fast compared to your trainer but you will quickly get used to this. Then the fun begins

For the same hundred bucks you could have the WM SS 40, it's a great low wing first plane. Still trike and will slow down very well. Plus will definetly fly with .40 sized engine, PC-9 is a little heavier, and would really like a .46.
