I have a Futaba EXA (Square cord plug in) and I need a buddy box system for training. But I also have an old transmitter, a Futaba Conquest (round cord plug in). So I am thinking a buying JUST the trainer cord that is square one end, and round the other end. My question can the Conquest be a buddy box transmitter, or do I have to have one SPECIFICALLY a buddy box???
Thanks for your help!

Any transmitter with a buddy box cord plug can be used as a BB. Just remember to NOT turn on the transmitter being used as the buddy box! My instructor actually removed the crystal and antenna from my xmtr before we went flying, jsut to be on the safe side.

Nope. Don't need a special specific dedicated buddy box. (I think) the Conquest should be ok.
Here's a place that has cords if you need it.

From: gone,
I tend to pull the battery and leave the crystal and antenna in the TX that will be the buddy box.... except with JR (I think airtronics is same as JR here.. haven't delt with theirs..) then you pull the crystal.
Leave the antenna alone unless you are dedicating an old TX to permanent buddy box service. Removing the antenna can loosen up a screw inside that is impossible to check on without pulling the TX back. If that screw comes out... the antenna will be disconnected from the transmitter. Plus... the screw can drop onto the TX circuit board and short it out. (maybe destroying the TX...)
If you have the habit of unscrewing the antenna from your TX... you need to periodically check inside to see if the screw that retains the wire connection to the antenna is tight.
