I want to get a cheap 4CH receiver for a H9 80" cub. Can't see risking my 149DP up there in my experimental firsts. Is there such a thing for glow, non-park flers? I assume the ElecrtiFLY and other similar Park flyer receiver will not provide the range I need.
Secondly, but somewhat related. If I need all four of the channel inputs where do I plug my battery?? Did I mention I was new to this!?

Don't go with the park flyer Rx they typically don't have the range and some (GWS) don't have the interference filtering capabilities.
I have the H9 cub I assume you need the "extra channel" because of the dual airleron servos if so you can get a Y-harness and plug both servos into one channel.
since you state you are new to this I wouldn't try to learn on that cub unless you have a good instructor mine seems to like to land fairly hot.
As far as cheap goes look at Hitec they make some of the cheapest out there just make sure you order the correct shift RX (JR/Airtronics positive) or (Futaba Hitec) if your radio is shift selectable disregard

Depending on what you mean by cheap, I find that the FMA M5A is an outstandingly good receiver. You can put it in a 1/4 scale and fly it out of sight yet it is very small and can be used in the typical park flyer. Range and sensitivity is excellent and is capable of 5 channel operation if you require that 5th channel. Check it out at fmadirect.com.

The battery pack could be plugged into any unused channel. If you need all 4 channels then get a Y-connector so that one channel will go to a servo as well as to the battery pack.
You can buy a Hitec Supreme receiver for $63 from Hobby Lobby or a Futaba R127DF receiver from Tower for $73, both including crystals. Not a lot to pay for good gear.

Hey, thanks for the posts. I wasn't sure whether there was some other plug I could plug a servo into from the switch. I suppose a Y connector is just as easy.
I might just continue using the 149DP and wrap it up real nicely in some bubble wrap. BTW, I have a 9CHP that gives me flaperon mode using channel 6... Seems to work fine, though I haven't actually flown the plane yet. It's been windy here lately...
