1. What's the difference between a world models Super sports 40, and the super sports 40S?
2. I think that's definetly going to be my next airplane.
3. Are those two planes both Symmetrical airfoil?

From what I can tell...nothing. The 40s has 574 sq in of wing area, and the 40 has 565 sq in. Other than that, the specs are the same. The wings do look to be semmetrical. I think I like the canopy on the 40, but would go for the larger wing of the 40s. Either way, I bet they both fly well.

The Super Sports 40S has about 1/2 an inch longer wing and it has a cowl. The Super Sports 40 has no cowl go with the 40s it looks better. I just finished mine and will be flying it tom. I put an OS 46 sf with an 11x6 prop I will let you know how it flies but since it looks very similar to my T-34 from World Models it will probably fly like it too, very straight and very manueverable.

The place in Canada that sells the WM planes told me that the S version was the only one available so thats what he sent me. It has the cowl around the engine but its a waste of time. Its short, and has a small diameter. This means that the cowl was tight up against the carb opening when held in position. By the time I dremelled just enough to clear the carb opening, about 2/3 of the top of the cowl was gone!!! I liked the original simple open plan but I ended up having to goof around with a cowl anyway. The plane flys great though! One tip, the landing gear wires in the wing has too short of an axle. If you can, replace the landing gear wires before gluing into the wing. The wheels as supplied were way too small for my grass field and I had to buy the axles that are attached to the original wires to accomodate the larger wheels. The plane is worth it hough. Have fun, Fast!

Gator - it will not fly like a T34 ... the SS is a faster plane and is much more aerobatic than a T34. T34 will almost float in on a landing the SS is faster (but not superfast), unless you take some care to flare her landings with the SS will be rather hot. SS will fly KE much easier than a T34 and do most of your aerobatic manuevers with more authority. T34 in short is a great first low wing trainer that later on will be fun as a Sunday flyer.
From what I hear the SS40 is a better performing plane than the SS40S.

tIan, thankx for the comparison between the SS and the T34. I was wondering if they flew differently. re: " From what I hear the SS40 is a better performing plane than the SS40S" I read that too which ticked me off that I could only get the "S" version. However I can not complain about any of the flight characteristics of my Super Sports! I try more things with it every time I take it to the field and am more impresed all the time. It does like to land fast but I appreciate a plane that comes down at a good clip with no nonsense and ignores the wind gusts! For me it makes it very predictable to spot land it.

Fastsky - the SS40 is somehow nicer they say, I have not flown both to compare but too many people say it. Yeah ... the SS40S is a nice plane to fly when its a little gusty, she penetrates the wind well. Try flaring her more on the final approach and she will slow down a bit. As for a great plane to fly ... try the WM Super Chipmunk, darn good stuff. Most people do not want it as its an 'old' plane but the WM one flies so good. Even nice to cruise around with ... aerobatics are very nice. Lovely KE even, very little coupling.
