Hi guys, As most of you know, from time to time someone will post something that either goes against RCU policy, or just plain decency, and the forum Moderators will either kill the thread or the post.

In almost every one of those cases, some members will post something like "Hey Moderators, please kill this thread".

I just want to point out to you that the best way to alert us to a bad thread, or a Troll, etc. is to click the "Report this Post" link at the top of the offending post. This is like a Hotline directly to the Mods and Administrators, and we will fix it ASAP.

Thanks

Sorry cruz, I didn't mean to single you out. Yours just happened to be the post that I screen captured.

On a more up-lifting note, you'll be happy to know that the poster of that thread has been banned.

I was just surprised with the guy's user name. Couldn't believe he could get away with that. I saw the post yesterday, and he was either a troll, or a complete moron.

Both!

I think anyone that is capable of doing harm to your PC would probably have no problem obtaining anyone's IP address if they wanted.

Always good to know that someone's minding the store. Aside from the AMA forum most of the posters are just RC'ers trying to learn or enjoy. TNX for the extra time this must take away from your modeling hours.

Not to worry Mhale, guys like that only talk big.

We just don't want them around here.

But the point of this post was not to frighten anyone, it was to point out that anytime you see ANYTHING offensive, whether it's obsenities, lewd pictures, attacks one one member from another or whatever, don't attack back - just click that "Report This Post" link, and we will take care of the problem.

This is not to say that every post that is reported will be dealt a lethal blow.

There have been times where someone may report a post where the member may have posted something like a picture of Nose Art showing a topless woman. Usually we will discuss the nature of the post and it's content (After carefully scrutinizing the picture of course ) and often we will decide that the reported post may stay. Each case is based purely on it's own merit (or lack thereof).

Other times, we'll pull the plug immediately.

But your help in finding these types of posts is greatly appreciated (Except of course for the guys who feel they are offended by everything and report 20 or 30 posts every time they log on! )

If I was a moderator, I would enact a no whinning policy. If people are constantly complaining and reporting posts that are found to be non offensive, I would tell them to stop the crying or they will be banned. That would give them something to whine about.

Nose art is what makes flying fun At our club we always compare nose art on scale days and stuff see whos in the best(I mean looks not the women) We figure around here if it offends you don't look at it, and hey if the military lets pilots have nose art containing some nudity why can't RC modelers.

i'd like to say that I have never found anything in the RCU formus offensive, derogotory, or anything like that. Most of the people that bother to become members are people looking to share their knowledge and help other people, so I guess that the moderators deserve a big ROUND OF APPLAUSE form all the happy RCU members

RCU is, and always will be a family oriented site. What stays and what goes is a decision made on an individual basis, by a group of several moderators and administrators.

Hear, Hear Mike

I know for a fact that you guys have dropped another member off this site that DIDN'T want to listen to anything ANYONE, including you and other mods, had to pass along to him.

Just keep up the great work on the mod's part and I will try to help if I see something that doesn't seem to fit this site.

Some people might complain about "freedom of speech" and so on, but they usually do not realize simple fact that "freedom" goes side by side with "responsibilities", and that is where moderators MUST STEP IN.

Thanks Mike. Great job as always!
